(사순절 6일째)

그리스도의 충실하심

“다윗의 장막에 인자함으로 왕위가 굳게 설 것이요 그 위에 앉을 자는 충실함으로 판결하며 정의를 구하며 공의를 신속히 행하리라”(사 16:5)

그리스도는 정의(공의)와 인자하심의 균형을 이루신 분이십니다.  그 분은 정의(공의)를 앞세우다 인자하심(mercy)이 약해지신 분이 아니시고, 인자하심을 앞세우다 정의( 공의)가 약해지시지도 않으신 분이셨습니다.

하나님이신 자신의 생명값으로 우리의 죄를 위해 대신 죽으신 100% 공의, 100% 인자하심을 ‘온전히’ 이루신 분이십니다.  그리스도의 사역은 ‘충실하심(faithfulness)’ 그 자체였습니다.

정의(공의)와 인자 어느 한 쪽에도 온전하지 못한 우리가 그리스도를 온전히 묵상하고, 의지하고, 따라야 하는 이유입니다.

The Faithfulness of Christ

"In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it—one from the house of David—one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness." (Isaiah 16:5)

Christ is the one who perfectly balances justice and mercy. He is not someone who prioritized justice to the detriment of mercy, nor did He emphasize mercy at the expense of justice.

With His own life as the ransom for our sins, He fully embodied 100% justice and 100% mercy. The ministry of Christ was faithfulness itself.

This is why we, who are incomplete in both justice and mercy, must fully meditate on, rely on, and follow Christ.
