7. 그러나 내가 너희에게 실상을 말하노니 내가 떠나가는 것이 너희에게 유익이라 내가 떠나가지 아니하면 보혜사가 너희에게로 오시지 아니할 것이요 가면 내가 그를 너희에게로 보내리니

8. 그가 와서 죄에 대하여, 의에 대하여, 심판에 대하여 세상을 책망하시리라

9. 죄에 대하여라 함은 그들이 나를 믿지 아니함이요

10. 의에 대하여라 함은 내가 아버지께로 가니 너희가 다시 나를 보지 못함이요

11. 심판에 대하여라 함은 이 세상 임금이 심판을 받았음이라

12. 내가 아직도 너희에게 이를 것이 많으나 지금은 너희가 감당하지 못하리라

13. 그러나 진리의 성령이 오시면 그가 너희를 모든 진리 가운데로 인도하시리니 그가 스스로 말하지 않고 오직 들은 것을 말하며 장래 일을 너희에게 알리시리라

14. 그가 내 영광을 나타내리니 내 것을 가지고 너희에게 알리시겠음이라

15. 무릇 아버지께 있는 것은 다 내 것이라 그러므로 내가 말하기를 그가 내 것을 가지고 너희에게 알리시리라 하였노라

 

7. But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

8. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:

9. in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me;

10. in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer;

11. and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

12. "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.

13. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

14. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.

15. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.

 

1. 3월을 영어로 무엇이라고 하죠?  What do you call the third month of the year in English?

2. 네.  March 라고 합니다.  이는 그리스 로마 신화에 나오는 전쟁의 신 Mars에서 유래된 단어입니다. That’s right, it is called March. It is derived from Mars, the god of war in Greek and Roman myths. 

3. 과거에는 추운 겨울에 전쟁을 할 수 없었기에, 3월이 되어 봄이 되면 이제 다시 전쟁을 벌이게 되는 과정에서 생겨난 이름입니다. In ancient times, because it was too cold to fight battles in the winter, warring nations stopped their battles in the winter and resumed warfare when the spring arrived. This is how March got its name for the month of spring.

4. 맞습니다.  어쩌면 봄이 되고, 전진해야 하는 우리의 삶의 현장은 영적 전쟁과도 같습니다. Perhaps, our lives are much like a spiritual battle that we must resume as the spring comes. 

5. 그래서 우리는 교회 안에만 머물러 있어서는 안됩니다. So we must not only stay in the church.

6. 정작 성도의 삶의 승리의 현장은 우리가 일주일 동안 살고 있는 삶의 현장입니다. Our spiritual battlefields are right in the middle of our lives throughout the week.

7. 그래서 이 3월에, 우리는 군인들이 전쟁터로 행진하며 나아가듯이 전진하며 나아가야 합니다. In this month of March, we must move forward like soldiers marching to the battlefield.

8. 그리고 그 전쟁터에서 승리하기 위해서 우리는 그냥 전진해서는 안됩니다. We should not just move forward to win the battle. 

9. 영적 전쟁에서 승리하기 위해서 온전히 ‘하나님으로 무장’하고 나아가야 합니다. In order to win the spiritual battle, we must march fully “armed with God.”

10. 하나님으로 무장하지 않고, 자신의 생각대로 가나안을 정탐했던 10명의 정탐군들이 있었습니다. There were ten spies who explored Canaan with their thoughts, without being armed with God. 

11. 그렇게 나아 가다가는 이 영적 전쟁에서 패하고 맙니다. Following their footsteps will lead to failure in the spiritual battle. 

 

12. 그래서 하나님께서 반드시 이 곳을 먼저 통과함으로, 영적 무장하라고 말씀하신 것이 바로 성막입니다(복습을 합시다). It is this Tabernacle which God instructs us to pass through first to be spiritually armed. 

13. 성막의 첫 단계는 번제단, 즉 예수 그리스도를 통해야 합니다(설명) It is the altar of burnt offering which we encounter first in the Tabernacle. We must go through Jesus Christ.

14. 성막의 두번째 단계는 성소, 즉 성령으로 인도함 받는 말씀과 기도의 삶입니다(설명). The second stage is the Holy Place, which represents a life of Word and prayer led by the Holy Spirit.

15. 세번째 단계는 지성소 앞의 찢어진 휘장으로 인해 이룩되는 하나됨의 단계입니다(설명). The next stage is the unity achieved through the curtain torn apart from top to bottom at the death of Christ on the cross. 

16. 네번째 단계는 지성소 안에서 하나님의 임재만 있는 영광의 단계입니다(설명). The fourth stage is the full glory of God present in the Most Holy Place.

17. 그리고 우리는 네번째 단계에 머물지 않고, 다섯번째 단계인 가나안으로 전진하며 나아가야 합니다. We must not be content to stay in this fourth stage, but we must move on to the next stage. It is Canaan.

18. 성막을 거치지 않고 가나안을 가도 패배하지만, 성막 안에만 머물러 있는 것도 사명 감당을 하지 못한 패배입니다. Going to Canaan without going through the Tabernacle leads to defeat, but staying only within the Tabernacle is also a failure. 

19. 네번째 단계를 다 지난 후에는성령의 인도함 따라 이 세상을 향하여 나아가야 합니다(설명). After passing through the Tabernacle, we must move towards the world following the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

20. 그리고 성령의 인도함 받고 나아갈 때, 이 행진은 분명히 승리의 행진이 될 것입니다. When we march on with the help of the Spirit, we will surely emerge victorious.

 

21. 중요한 것은 이 영적 전투의 현장에서 우리는 승리하기 위해서 성령 하나님의 인도하심을 잘 받아야 한다는 것입니다. To win the spiritual battle, what is crucial is that we must be prudent and wise in receiving the guidance of the Holy Spirit. 

22. 예수님도 제자들에게 십자가를 지시기 전에 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. Jesus said to his disciples before he took the cross. 

23. “지금까지는 너희가 내 이름으로 아무것도 구하지 아니하였으나 구하라 그리하면 받으리니 너희 기쁨이 충만하리라”(요한 16:24) (설명) “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” (John 16:24)

24. 이 표현은 한번만 하신 것이 아닙니다.  예수님의 사역 중 매우 중요한 표현을 이렇게 반복해서 말씀해 주셨습니다. He did not say this just once, but, during his ministry, Jesus repeatedly made this important statement. 

25. “너희가 악할지라도 좋은 것을 자식에게 줄 줄 알거든 하물며 너희 하늘 아버지께서 구하는 자에게 성령을 주시지 않겠느냐 하시니라”(누가 11:13) (설명) “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:13)

26. 특별히 바로 이 구절은 평행구절로 마태복음 7:12의 유명한 황금율의 구절과 동일한 구절입니다.  This verse is a parallel passage to the famous Golden Rule in Matthew 7:12.

27. “그러므로 무엇이든지 남에게 대접을 받고자 하는 대로 너희도 남을 대접하라 이것이 율법이요 선지자니라”(마태 7:12) “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:12)

28. 이렇게 율법이요 선지자라고 표현된 대로 성경의 가장 핵심인 남을 제대로 대접하는 삶을 살기 위해서 누가복음에서는 ‘성령’으로 반드시 인도함 받아야 한다고 말하고 있습니다. To live a life that treats others properly, which is said to sum up the Bible, Luke says that we must be led by the “Holy Spirit.”

 

29. 왜 성령으로 인도함 받아야 할까요? Why should we be led by the Spirit?

30. 그것은 성령님께서 주시는 ‘능력’이 있기 때문입니다.  유명한 사도행전 1:8에 ‘오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 유다를 넘어 사마리아와 땅끝까지 증인이 된다’고 말씀하고 있습니다. Because there is “power” that the Spirit gives. Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” 

31. 즉 성령이 함께 하실 때 ‘강력한 능력’ 즉 ‘권능’(dynamis)을 받게 되는 것입니다(설명). That is, when the Holy Spirit is with us, we receive “great power, dunamis.” 

32. 그렇습니다.  우리는 삶의 현장으로 반드시 나아가야 하지만, 그 현장은 영적 전쟁터와 같은 쉽지 않은 상황이라는 말입니다. We must march into our lives, yes. However, we recognize that our lives are never easy, just like spiritual battles.

33. 그리고 그 영적 전쟁에서 우리는 반드시 승리해야 합니다.  이를 위해서는 ‘반드시’ 성령으로 인도함 받아야 한다는 말입니다. We must win the spiritual battle, for which we “must” be led by the Holy Spirit. 

 

34. 그런데 문제는 ‘성령(님),’ 이런 표현을 들을 때 우리 안에서도 아마 받아 들이시는 느낌이 다를 정도로 혼돈 혹은 혼란이 있다는 사실입니다. However, the problem is that when we hear the word “Holy Spirit,” there might be some confusion even among us.

35. 이는 성령 하나님에 대한 이해와 대하는 우리의 자세가 그동안 너무 주관적인 경우가 많았다는 뜻입니다. This indicates that our understanding and attitude towards the Spirit have often been too subjective.

36. 실제로 마틴 로이드 존스 목사님께서 유명한 교리 강좌 시리즈를 저술하시면서 ‘성령 하나님’편에서 이렇게 말씀 하십니다. In fact, Martin Lloyd-Jones says in his famous series of doctrinal lectures, “God the Holy Spirit.” 

37. 성령 하나님에 대해서 어떤 부류의 사람들은 잘못된 방법으로 강조 또는 과장하는 입장이 었고, 또 어떤 부류의 사람들은 성령의 교리를 무시했고 말씀하셨습니다. He says that some people ignored the doctrine of the Holy Spirit while others emphasized or exaggerated it in the wrong way.

38. 즉, 성령 하나님의 역사 중 개인적, 감정적, 주관적, 일상적이지 않은 기현상의 강조 등을 하다 보니, 그러한 지나친 모습으로 인한 반작용으로 성령 하나님에 대해서 말씀하거나, 인도함 받으려고 하는 자세를 지나치게 두려워 하거나 심지어 무시하는 경향도 갖게 되었다는 것입니다. In reaction to the excessive focus on personal, emotional, subjective, and atypical phenomena in the work of the Spirit, people tended to overly fear or even ignore talking about or being led by the Holy Spirit. 

39. 성령 하나님의 역사를 주관적 현상으로만 인도함 받는 것도 문제이지만, 그래서 성령 하나님에 대해서 의도적으로 그 인도하심에 둔감하려고 하는 것 또한 문제라는 말입니다(그래서 마틴 로이드 존스 목사님은 교리서적을 쓰면서 성령론을 따로 다루었습니다). It  is problematic to be led by subjective phenomena when it comes to the work of the Spirit, but it is also problematic to intentionally be insensitive to His guidance. 

40. 중요한 것은 우리가 ‘전진’을 해야 하는 이 3월, 영적 전투의 현장에서 참된 승리를 위해서는 ‘권능’을 주시는 성령 하나님을 바르게 이해하고, 의지하고, 인도함 받아야 한다는 사실입니다. What is important is that we should understand the Spirit correctly, who gives us power. We must rely on Him and be led by Him, as we march into our spiritual battlefield for true victory.  

41. 그래서 저는 성령 하나님을 바르게 이해하고, 참된 권능을 받기 위한 목적으로 오늘 성령 하나님에 대해서 말씀을 나누려고 합니다. Therefore, today I want to talk about the Holy Spirit for the purpose of correctly understanding Him and receiving true power from Him. 

42. 그래야 전쟁터로 행진(March)하며 나아가는 이 3월에 승리하게 될 줄 믿습니다. So that we may be able to emerge victorious in this month of March. 

 

43. 4가지를 함께 나누려고 합니다.  가능하면 꼭 기억하시기를 바랍니다. I will share four things with you. If you can, please remember them.

44. 첫째는, 성령 하나님에 대한 삼위일체적 이해가 꼭 필요하다는 사실입니다. First, we need to understand God the Holy Spirit in terms of the Trinity.

45. 성경 전체를 볼 때, 분명히 성경은 성부, 성자, 성령 하나님을 한 하나님으로 묘사합니다. Throughout the Scripture, it clearly describes God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit as one God. 

46. 가장 유명한 구절로 창 1:1 에 나오는 ‘태초에 하나님이 천지를 창조하시니라’입니다.  이 구절에서 ‘하나님’이라는 표현은 복수인데, ‘창조하시다’라는 동사는 단수 동사입니다. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” In this verse, the term “God” is plural, but the verb “created” is singular. 

47. 또 유명한 구절이 마태복음 28:19인데 ‘아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 주고’로 되어 있는데, 세례라는 가장 중요한 사역을 행할 때 삼위일체 하나님의 동시적 사역으로 행하라고 표현되어 있습니다(설명). Also, Matthew 28:19 says to baptize “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” This indicates that the most crucial ministry, baptism, is to be performed in the unity ministry of the Triune God. 

48. 삼위일체 하나님에 대해서는 인간의 문법적, 논리적 구조로는 이해할 수 없는 표현입니다(3이 1이 되고, 1이 3이 된다?). The concept of the Trinity is beyond human logic and understanding. 

49. 당연히 피조물인 인간이 창조주 하나님에 대해서 온전히 이해할 수 없는 것은 당연합니다. It is evidently natural that we as humans, created beings, cannot fully understand God the Creator. 

50. 그러나 성경에서 가르쳐 주시는 대로, 하나님은 한 하나님이시기에, 성부, 성자, 성령 하나님의 전인적, 균형적 측면에서 늘 우리는 믿고, 의지하는 자세를 가져야 합니다. Therefore, since God is one as the Bible teaches us, we must believe and rely on God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit from a holistic perspective. 

51. 제일 좋은 자세가 바로 사도신경의 자세입니다.  사도 신경에서는 성부 하나님, 성자 하나님, 성령 하나님의 사역에 대한 올바른 내용이 구체적으로 정확하게 담겨져 있습니다. The Apostles’ Creed is a good example. It describes rather in detail the work of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. 

52. 그래서 삼위일체 하나님의 사역에 대해서 균형 잡힌 신앙고백적 삶을 살아야 한다는 것입니다. We should live a balanced and confessional life regarding the work of the Triune God. 

53. 흔히 이렇게 말하기도 합니다.  내가 장로교 배경을 가졌다면 성부 하나님 쪽에 강조를, 내가 침례교 배경을 가졌다면 성자 하나님 쪽에 강조를, 내가 순복음 교회 배경을 가졌다면 성령 하나님 쪽에 강조를 한다고 말합니다.  It is often said that if one comes from a Presbyterian background, there might be an emphasis on God the Father; if from a Baptist background, on God the Son; and if from a Pentecostal background, on God the Holy Spirit.

54. 그러나 가장 건강한, 올바른 성경적 자세는 무엇일까요? What is the soundest, most biblically correct attitude?

55. 네.  어느 한쪽에도 치우치지 않는 균형잡힌 삼위일체적 신앙 고백적 삶을 말합니다. Of course, it is a balanced and confessional life founded on the Trinitarian faith. 

56. 어느 한쪽을 지나치게 강조하는 것은 올바른 성경적 자세가 아니고, 어느 한쪽만 강조하면 극단 혹은 심지어 이단으로 될 가능성이 있음을 기억해야 합니다(주권도, 섭리도, 십자가의 은혜도, 성령 하나님의 인도하심도…). Emphasizing one aspect too much is not a correct biblical stance, and focusing on just one aspect can lead to extremes or even heresy.

57. 그래서 우리는 늘 사도신경의 신앙고백을 기억하고, 그 삼위일체 하나님에 대한 신앙적 자세를 전체적으로, 균형적으로 갖는 것이 진정한 개혁주의 신앙의 자세라 할 수 있습니다. Thus, we should always remember the confession of the Apostles’ Creed and maintain a holistic, balanced attitude towards the Trinity, which is the true Reformed faith.

58. 한번 돌아 보시기 바랍니다.  성부, 성자, 성령 하나님의 사역을 생각하시면서 나는 균형잡힌, 전인적인 신앙의 자세를 갖고 있는가…? Let us reflect on whether we have a balanced and holistic faith with regards to the work of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. 

59. 이렇게 우리가 영적 전투의 현장에서 삼위일체 하나님의 이름, 즉 만군의 여호와 하나님의 이름으로 나아갈 때 반드시 승리하게 될 줄 믿습니다. When we march into the spiritual battlefield in the name of the Triune God and of the Lord Almighty, we will surely be victorious. 

 

60. 두번째로, 성령 하나님과 관련된 성경의 많은 얘기 중 아마 가장 많이 들으셨던 내용이 바로 ‘성령의 열매’일 것입니다. Second, among the many teachings about the Holy Spirit in the Bible, you will probably hear most about “the Fruit of the Spirit.”

61. 이는 매우 중요합니다.  왜냐하면 성경은 말이 아니라, ‘열매로 안다’라고 표현하기 때문입니다. This is very important because the Spirit is known by “fruit,” not just by “words.”

62. 성령의 열매는 매우 중요합니다.  왜냐하면 다시 종의 멍에를 매지 말고, 참된 복음으로 인한 자유자의 삶을 살도록 갈라디아서에서 마지막으로 강조한 것이 바로 ‘성령의 열매’이기 때문입니다. The Fruit of the Spirit is very important. We see this in how the Book of Galatians emphasizes it as its last point, exhorting its readers to live as free people for the Gospel, not as slaves.

63. (도표) 이 성령의 열매가 어떤 것이죠?  네.  이 9가지 입니다. The Fruit of the Holy Spirit has nine fruits.

64. 이 열매의 중요성은 성령께서 맺게 해 주시는 것이며, 그 중요한 것이 신앙인으로서 갖게 되는 ‘내적 자질 및 성품’과 관련된다는 의미입니다. The importance of this fruit is that it is produced by the Holy Spirit, and it relates to the “inner qualities and characters” that we have.

65. 9가지이지만, 원어적 표현은 ‘단수’로 사용되었습니다.  이는 한 성령 하나님에 의해서만 온전히 맺게 됨을 의미합니다(설명). Although there are nine fruits, the original language uses a singular term, implying that they are fully produced only by the Holy Spirit.

66. 이 9가지에서 하나라도 부족하게 되면 성품의 부족함이 보일 수 있습니다. If any of these nine aspects are lacking, it can show a deficiency in character. 

67. 이 성품이 부족하면 내면의 성숙도가 떨어지게 되고, 그로 인해 공동체 안에서의 관계적 균열이 생기기 쉽습니다. Any deficiency in these qualities can lead to a lack of inner maturity, which in turn can easily cause relational problems within a community.

68. 그래서 이 9가지는 전쟁터에서 승리하기 위한 내적, 공동체적 점검의 상황이기에 매우 중요한 영역입니다. These nine aspects are important areas for examining personal and communal integrity to achieve victory on the battlefield. 

69. 그래서 우리는 늘 이 열매를 점검해야 합니다.  군대에서 아침마다 점호하고, 점검하듯이, 신앙인은 늘 점검하고, 성령 하나님께 이 열매를 구해야 합니다. We are always to check for this Fruit. As roll call and inspection are done every morning in the army, we should examine ourselves and ask the Holy Spirit for this Fruit.

70. [묵상] 한번 제가 말씀 드릴 때 나의 삶에 이 9가지 중 무엇이 지금 부족한지 한번 점검해 보시기 바랍니다. As I list the Fruit of the Sprit, I invite us to check which of these nine aspects might be lacking in our lives right now. 

 

71. 세번째로 많이 들으셨던 것이 ‘성령의 은사’일 것입니다. The third most heard aspect of the Holy Spirit is the “Gift of the Spirit.”

72. 은사는 중요합니다.  마치 전쟁터에서 실제로 사용하는 무기와 같은 것들이기 때문입니다. Gifts are crucial because they are akin to the weapons used in a battlefield. 

73. 성경에 나타나는 성령의 은사는 매우 다양하고 많습니다(설명 27가지… 여러가지나… 더 많다…).  A variety of spiritual gifts are presented in the Bible. 

74. 그러한 은사 중 관계적 은사도 있고, 개인적, 주관적 은사도 있으며, 일상 현상과는 다른 기현상적 은사도 있습니다. Among them, there are relational gifts, personal gifts, and supernatural gifts. 

75. 중요한 것은 이러한 은사가 성령의 열매, 즉 사랑으로 사용되어야 한다는 것입니다.  그래서 가장 큰 은사는 사랑으로 행하는 은사라고 말씀하고 있습니다(고전 13:1). It is important that these gifts should be used in love, the fruit of the Spirit. The greatest gift is said to be the one exercised in love (1 Corinthians 13:1).

76. 그리고 이 성령의 은사들의 가장 중요한 목적은 신앙 공동체의 덕을 세우는 것이 되어야 한다고 말합니다(고전 14:12). Moreover, the primary purpose of these gifts is to edify the faith community. (1 Corinthians 14:12)

77. 신앙 공동체는 바로 교회입니다.  은사를 잘 못 사용하여서 교회라는 공동체를 세우는 것이 아니라, 자신 혹은 개인의 덕을 세우는 것이 된다면 전투에서 이길 지 몰라도, 전쟁에서 지게 되는 것입니다. The faith community refers to the church. Misusing gifts to edify oneself, instead of the church community, will ultimately lose the war.

78. 그래서 성령의 열매 중 마지막인 절제와 함께 성령의 은사가 사용될 때 성령의 열매라는 무기는 가장 적절하게, 하나님의 군대인 교회를 더 강력하게 세우며 나아가게 된다는 말입니다. Thus, when the gifts of the Spirit are used with self-control, they become the most powerful weapon to strengthen the church, which is the army of God.

79. 그런데 이러한 기초 위에 꼭 알아야 할 것이 있습니다.  Assuming this foundation, we need to understand more.

80. 우리는 하나님의 군대입니다.  모든 군사에게 하나님은 영적 무기를 제공해 주셨습니다. We are God’s army. God gave out spiritual weapons to every soldier.

81. 모든 성도님들에게 성령의 은사를 주셨다는 말입니다. It means God grants all his believers with his gifts. 

82. 그것을 몰라도 안되고, 안 사용해서도 안됩니다.  그리고 무절제 하게 사용해서도 안됩니다. We should not be unaware of nor fail to use these spiritual gifts, let alone using them carelessly or in an unruly manner.

83. 알아야 하고, 사용해야 하고, 바르게 사용해야 합니다. We must know that we have spiritual gifts and use them correctly and obediently. 

84. 85. 성령의 은사는 군대의 보직, 무기와 같은 것입니다.  여러분이 갖고 계시는 보직 혹은 영적 무기는 어떤 것입니까? The Spiritual gifts are like duty assignments or weapons in the military. What are your spiritual assignments or roles and weapons? 

 

86. 성령 하나님과 관련된 성경의 표현은 성경에 너무나 많습니다.  구약과 신약 전체에 거의 500회 이상 직접적으로 표현되었고, 그 외에 간접적으로 표현된 것까지 합하면 거의 셀 수 없을 정도로 많을 것입니다. References to the Holy Spirit are abundant throughout the Bible, with easily over 500 references mentioned directly and indirectly.

87. 이 말은 무엇입니까?  성령의 역사가 삶의 모든 현장에 있고, 어디나, 언제나 역사한다는 말입니다. What does this tell us? It tells us that the work of the Holy Spirit is present in all aspects of life, everywhere, and at all times.

88. 그래서 우리는 늘 민감하고, 늘 주의를 기울여야 합니다. Therefore, we must always be sensitive and attentive. 

89. 이러한 관점에서 네번째, 즉 마지막으로 성령 하나님과 관련해서 우리가 점검해야 할 표현이 ‘충만함’입니다. In this light, our fourth point is the “fullness” of the Holy Spirit, that I am about to share.

90. ‘충만함’이라는 표현은 ‘plerouste’(be filled with)로서 자칫 ‘양적 개념’으로 이해되기 쉽습니다. The term, “fullness” is plerouste in Greek, which means to be filled with. However, it can easily be misunderstood in a quantitative sense. 

91. 마치 ‘배터리 충전이 100%’로 이해 되듯이 그렇게 성령 충만에 대해서 이해하기 쉽습니다. Just as one might understand it as a battery being 100% charged, we may inadvertently understand the fullness of the Spirit in similar terms. 

92. 그러나 성경은 이 성령 충만을 술취함과 연결해서 설명하고 있습니다.  즉, ‘누가 나를 이끄는가’에 성령충만의 올바른 이해가 있습니다. But the Bible explains this fullness of the Spirit in contrast to drunkenness. It suggests that the right understanding of the fullness of the Spirit lies in “Who is leading me.” 

93. “술 취하지 말라 이는 방탕한 것이니 오직 성령으로 충만함을 받으라”(엡 5:18) “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18). 

94. 술 취하면 술이 나를 지배하고, 이끌어 갑니다. When drunk, alcohol reigns and leads you.

95. 그렇듯이, 나의 삶의 모든 영역에 성령에 민감하고, 성령보다 앞서 가지 않고, 성령께서 이끄시는 대로 보고, 말하고, 행하라는 말입니다. Likewise, when filled with the Spirit, it means that we should let the Spirit reign and lead us, being sensitive to him and being led by him to see, speak, and act. 

96. 나의 생각, 나의 말, 나의 행동을 지배하는 것은 나 자신입니까?  성령 하나님이십니까? Who is it that controls your thoughts, words, and actions? Is it you or the Holy Spirit?

 

97. 이제 우리는 이 예배를 마치고 영적 전투의 현장으로 나아갑니다. After this worship service, we shall go into the spiritual battlefield. 

98. 그리스도의 영이신 성령 하나님을 의지하며, 주의 성찬을 받음으로 유월절, 즉 출애굽을 행하십시다. Let us rely on the Spirit of Christ and partake in His Supper, and march into our spiritual battlefield as God’s freed people and as God’s army.

100. [결단의 기도] 영적 전투의 현장으로 가기 전에 점검합시다.  삼위일체 하나님, 성령의 열매, 성령의 은사, 그리고 성령의 충만함으로 나아가도록 기도합시다. Let us examine ourselves before we go into the battlefield of spiritual warfare. Let us pray that we move forth with our Triune God, the Fruit and the gifts of the Spirit, and the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
