(사순절 23일째)

하나님의 기억

“이는 내게 노아의 홍수와 같도다 내가 다시는 노아의 홍수로 땅 위에 범람하지 못하게 하리라 맹세한 것같이 내가 네게 노하지 아니하며 너를 책망하지 아니하기로 맹세하였노니…”(이사야 54:9)

노아시대 홍수 심판 후 하나님은 다시 홍수로 그렇게 모든 생물을 홍수로 멸하지 않으실 것이라고 약속하셨습니다(창 9:10).  

그 약속의 증표로 하나님은 ‘내가 내 무지개를 구름 속에 두었나니 이것이 나와 세상 사이의 언약의 증거’라고 말씀하셨습니다(창 9:13).

무지개를 보며 우리는 홍수 심판과 같은 모든 생물을 멸절시키는 무서운 심판이 다시 오지 않을 것이라는 위로와 소망을 갖게 됩니다.  그러나 하나님도 무지개를 보시며 그 약속을 다시 기억하실 것이라는 사실 또한 우리는 기억해야 합니다.

노아와 약속하셨듯이 바벨론 포로 이후 이스라엘 백성들과도 그런 무서운 진노를 주시지 않을 것이라고 말씀 하셨습니다.  

그래서 우리는 이 사실 하나만은 기억해야 합니다.  아무리 무서운 시련이 와도, 그래서 너무 힘들어서 소망의 끈까지 놓쳐버리고, 정신없이 고난의 현장에 휩쓸리며 정신 줄을 놓는 그 순간에도…

 우리의 하나님 아버지는 잊지 않으시고, 기억하시고, 계속 우리를 붙잡으시고 계심을…

말씀하시고 수천년이 지나도 반드시 성취하시는… 

기억력 최고의 하나님을 우리는 온 맘 다하여 찬양합니다!

God's Memory

"Just as I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth, so now I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, nor will I rebuke you." (Isaiah 54:9)

After the flood judgment in Noah's time, God promised never again to destroy all living creatures with a flood (Genesis 9:10).

As a sign of this promise, God said, "I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth" (Genesis 9:13).

Seeing a rainbow, we are comforted and hopeful that a terrifying judgment that destroys all living creatures, like the flood, will not come again. However, we must also remember that God will remember His promise upon seeing the rainbow.

Just as He promised Noah, He told the people of Israel after the Babylonian exile that He would not unleash such terrible wrath upon them.

Therefore, we must remember this one thing: no matter how terrifying the trials, even when we are so overwhelmed that we lose the thread of hope, caught up in the turmoil of suffering, losing our grip...

Our Father God does not forget, He remembers, and continues to hold on to us...

Proclaiming and fulfilling His word, even thousands of years later...

We praise God, who has the greatest memory, with all our hearts!
