Good Afternoon!

My name is Andrew Colón, and I am an AmeriCorps Member within the Office of Sustainability at the City of Ann Arbor. One of my fellow AmeriCorps team members, Amaya Hall; our Circular Economy Sustainability Coordinator, Will Garcia; and I are currently working on organizing a Neighborhood Swap Day in collaboration with ZeroWaste.org. This Swap Day is intended to be a part of the City’s A2ZERO circular economy goals—a main component of which involves reusing items instead of sending them to the landfill.   

The Neighborhood Swap Day will be a chance for community members to share items with others or find something new for themselves. The event will take place on Saturday, April 13th from 10 am – 3 pm at Angell Elementary.  

I am reaching out to your organization specifically due to the great work you do to help individuals and families throughout the community. There is no requirement to bring items in order to take them, so we are hoping that the Swap Day could provide an opportunity for the individuals you service to acquire gently used goods at no cost to them.

 

A variety of items will be available at the Swap Day, including small appliances, toys, baby supplies, home décor, health and beauty supplies, and more. A full list of items can be found here. We will be accepting donations for any of the items on the list as well!

If you are interested in sharing this information with individuals you think will be of benefit, a flyer with all of the pertinent information is attached. There is a QR code that links to the RSVP form on the flyer in order to get an idea of attendance for materials, volunteers, and safety reasons. We understand that there may be accessibility concerns regarding technology, so RSVPS are encouraged if possible, but not required.
