I. Intro 

A. An example that God uses all throughout the Bible to explain what we are getting into when we follow Jesus is the example of a fight! 

예수님을 따를 때 성도가 처하는 상황을 설명하기 위해 하나님이 성경 전체를 통해 사용하시는 예가 ‘전투의 예’입니다!

 

1. When you agreed to follow Jesus you were signing up for a fight 

즉, 여러분이 예수님을 따르기로 결심했다면, 그것은 ‘전쟁’에 동참했다는 것을 의미한다는 말입니다.

 

2. Today when Pastor David is being ordained ; he is signing up for a fight 

오늘, 백승리 전도사님께서 목사로 안수 받으시게 된다는 것은 ‘영적 싸움, 영적 전쟁’에 동참하시게 되었다는 것을 의미한다는 말입니다.

 

3. To run the race and fight the good fight of faith ; and he is not expecting to fight that fight alone.  He is expecting that you will be with him in this fight.  

이 신앙의 선한 전투를 시작하시면서 전도사님은 혼자서 이 전투를 치루려고 하시지 않을 것입니다.  이 전투에서 전도사님은 우리 모두가 함께 전도사님과 이 전투에 함께 하실 것을 기대하실 것입니다. 

 

4. Will you be ready?  

여러분들도 준비되어 있으십니까?

 

B. If you read the 2nd half of the book of Acts you will find an early church leader named Paul who has clearly been invited to a fight for the sake of the gospel 

사도행전의 후반부를 읽어 보시게 되면 복음전파를 위해서 이 영적전투에로 초대된 초대 교회 지도자인 바울을 보게 됩니다.

 

C. - from the very moment he promised to follow Jesus its like he stepped into a war

예수를 따르기로 마음 먹은 그 순간부터가 바로 영적 전투에 발을 내 디딘 것입니다.

 

D. Paul lived a life built around communicating the love of Christ and it has been a vicious brutal fight : I’m not a fan of MMA. (Mixed martial arts competitions) Its a bit too vicious and brutal for me.  What Paul has been through makes MMA look tame and not just physically but mentally and spiritually too 

바울은 그리스도의 사랑을 전하는 삶을 살았는데, 당시로서는 이러한 삶이 잔혹하고 강렬한 싸움이었습니다.  저는 MMA같은 격투기 팬은 아닙니다.  그것은 너무 잔인하고 가혹한 것 같습니다.  그러나 바울이 겪은 것은 영적싸움은 오히려 이러한 이종 격투기같은 운동경기가 오히려 온화해 보이게 만듭니다.  왜냐하면 바울이 겪었던 전쟁은 신체적 영역뿐만 아니라, 정신적/영적 영역까지 행해졌던 강렬한 전쟁이었기 때문입니다.

 

1. When Paul was within 10 years of his death he knew it - the Spirit was telling him that. There was a church that he started in a place called Ephesus and before he died Paul wanted to say something to the congregation and to the elders of that church. He is in a prison in Rome and he writes a letter to the church and the letter is meant to give them courage for their fight!  At the end of the letter Paul says this: 

바울은 자신이 10년 이내에 죽게 될 것이라는 것을 그는 알고 있었습니다. – 성령이 그에게 그것을 알려주었기 때문입니다.  그에게는 에베소에서 개척한 교회가 있었고, 죽기 전에 바울은 그 교회의 교인들과 장로들에게 무언가 말하고 싶었습니다.  당시 바울은 로마의 감옥에 있었기에 에베소 교회에 편지를 썼습니다. 바울이 편지를 쓴 이유는 이러한 영적 전쟁에 직면한 에베소 교회 성도님들에게 용기를 주려는 것이었습니다.   편지의 끝 부분에 바울은 이렇게 말합니다.

E. 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  Ephesians 6:10-14, 17 (NIV) 

11. 끝으로 너희가 주 안에서와 그 힘의 능력으로 강건하여지고 마귀의 간계를 능히 대적하기 위하여 하나님의 전신 갑주를 입으라

12. 우리의 씨름은 혈과 육을 상대하는 것이 아니요 통치자들과 권세들과 이 어둠의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악의 영들을 상대함이라

13. 그러므로 하나님의 전신 갑주를 취하라 이는 악한 날에 너희가 능히 대적하고 모든 일을 행한 후에 서기 위함이라

14. 그런즉 서서 진리로 너희 허리 띠를 띠고 의의 호심경을 붙이고

17. 구원의 투구와 성령의 검 곧 하나님의 말씀을 가지라

 

1. Another version of the Bible says the first part of these verses this way: 10-12 And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no weekend war that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. Ephesians 6:10-12 (MSG) 

또 다른 성경 번역은 이 구절의 첫 부분을 이렇게 말합니다.  10-12 그리고 이제 결론을 맺습니다.  하나님은 강하신 분이시기에, 여러분도 강하게 하시려고 합니다.  그러므로 주님께서 여러분들을 위해 준비해 놓은 모든 것을 갖추시기 바랍니다.  최고의 부품들로 만든 장비들을 사용하여 마귀의 모든 공격에 대항할 수 있도록 그것들을 사용하십시오.  이 싸움은 우리가 며칠 후에 잊어버릴 짧은 기간의 싸움이 아닙니다.  이 싸움은 영생을 위해 생사를 건 싸움이며 마귀와 그의 모든 천사들이 끝장을 봐야 하는 그런 싸움입니다.  

2. When you agree to follow Jesus - you are being invited into a fight, but not a fight against people - and because its not physical against people we are so tempted to approach this life chasing safety and comfort and to think that we are not in a fight

예수를 따르기로 결단하셨을 때-여러분들은 이 전쟁에 초대받은 것입니다.  그러나 이 싸움은 다른 국가나 민족들과의 전쟁이 아니라는 점 때문에 오히려 우리는 나의 삶을 안전하고 편안하게 여기고 이 전투에 참여하고 싶지 않은 유혹을 받을 때가 많습니다.  

a) But what if I asked you to run an errand with me after the worship service - and later on when we get to my car I hand you a bullet proof vest and a handgun and a shot gun 

만약 예배 후에 저와 함께 무엇을 하러 가겠냐고 묻는다면-그리고 나중에 제 차에서 방탄조끼와 소총과 산탄총을 건네주게 된다면…

(1) You would be like where are we going?  

우리, 어디로 가는거죠?

(2) Clearly wherever we are going its serious and dangerous

이 말은, 분명히 가는 곳이 중요하고 위험한 곳이라는 것을 말하며,

(3) And if you don’t take the weapons and protection I am giving you, you will be in serious danger  

그리고 만약 여러분이 제가 준 무기와 보호구를 갖추지 않으면 심각한 위험에 처하게 될 것입니다.

b) Paul says these things about armor to remind his readers that this is serious - you’ve been invited into a fight far more dangerous than fighting people 

바울은 이러한 무장에 대해 이야기함으로써 에베소 교회 성도님들에게 이 상황이 매우 심각하다는 것을 상기시킨 것입니다-즉, 여러분들은 그냥 일반 사람들과 언쟁하는 그런 것보다 훨씬 더 위험한 전쟁에 초대 받았다는 말입니다.

(1) Using his words we can summarize this way: Our battle is not against merely human forces but rather against supernatural powers 

바울 사도 말을 통해 우리는 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있습니다: 우리의 전쟁은 단순히 인간적인 힘에 맞서는 것이 아니라 초자연적인 강력한 영적 세력에 맞서는 것이라는 말입니다.

(2) So put on the whole armor of God

그러므로 하나님의 전신갑주를 입으셔야 합니다.

(3) So that you will be strong in the Lord 

그래야, 주 예수 그리스도 안에서 강하게 설 수 있습니다.

(4) So that you might be able to resist (evil and lies and deception) 

그래야, (악과 거짓말과 속임수와 같은) 영적 공격에 대해 강력하게 맞설 수 있습니다.

(5) So that you might be found standing!!  

그래야, 당신이 당당히 맞서고 있는 모습을 스스로 보시게 될 것입니다.

(a) In our fight for Christ we face constant mental and spiritual battle of lies that are meant to destroy us: 

그리스도를 위한 우리의 영적 싸움에서, 우리는 끊임없이 우리를 무너 뜨리려고 하는 지속적인 거짓말, 지속적인 정신적 전투를 마주하게 됩니다. 

i) How will you fight them?  The main weapon of our enemies are lies

여러분은 이 싸움을 어떻게 싸우시겠습니까?  우리의 대적자, 마귀가 중요하게 사용하는 무기는 바로 ‘거짓말’입니다.

ii) If you believe lies about God, about yourself about others - it can destroy your life 

만약 여러분들이 하나님, 여러분 자신, 다른 사람에 대한 거짓말을 듣게 되신다면, 그런 거짓말이 여러분의 삶을 파괴하게 될 것입니다.

c) When we read Jesus we are astounded by His love and His kindness and HIs grace and His honesty and His boldness 

우리가 예수님을 제대로 알게 되신다면, 우리는 그 분의 사랑과 친절함, 은혜, 정직함, 강력함에 놀라게 됩니다.

d) I’m am breath taken by Jesus’ radical forgiveness of people and His incredible self control in the most difficult situations.  Do you want to be like Him?  

저는 예수님을 보면서 사람들을 향해서 보여 주신 놀라운 용서와 가장 어려운 상황에서 보여주신 놀라운 자제심에 마음이 빼앗길 정도입니다.  여러분들도 그 분과 같이 되시고 싶으십니까?

(1) Jesus was able to do that and be that person because of the full armor of God 

예수님은 그러한 것이 가능하셨고 실제로 그런 모습을 갖추실 수 있으셨습니다.  왜냐하면 예수님은 하나님의 전신갑주를 입으셨기 때문입니다. 

(2) We will not be able to be like just because we want to be.  Put on the full armor of God 

이것은 그냥 원하는 마음만 갖고 있는 것으로는 충분하지 않습니다.  실제로 하나님의 전신 갑주를 취하셔야 합니다!

3. In Ephesians where we just read - there is a list of all the parts of the armor :  I just want to highlight 2 today 

우리가 방금 읽은 에베소서에서 이 전신갑주의 모든 부분들이 다 나열되어 있습니다.  오늘 저는 그 중에서 2가지만 강조하고 싶습니다.

4. Putting on the armor of God begins with: Stand firm with the belt of truth 

하나님의 전신갑주를 입는 것은 먼저 진리의 허리띠를 매는 것으로 시작합니다.  

a) And it ends with: the sword of the Spirit

그리고 마지막 갑옷의 부분은 성령의 검으로 마칩니다.

(1) What is the belt of truth?  

진리의 허리띠는 무엇을 말하는 것일까요?

(2) What is the sword of the Spirit?  Word of God yes! 

성령의 검은 무엇을 의미합니까?  네. 둘 다 하나님의 말씀을 의미합니다!

(3) Paul says the belt of truth which is a metaphor for the word of God 

바울은 하나님의 말씀을 은유적으로 진리의 허리띠로 말합니다.

(4) And the Sword of the Spirit which is the word of God - Paul isn’t just repeating himself for fun but he uses 2 different metaphors for the word of God to focus on 2 different ways we need to use it if we have any hope of being a successful Jesus follower and not constantly defeated 

하나님의 말씀인 성령의 검-바울은 재미를 위해 반복한 것이 아니라 성공적으로 예수님을 따르는 자가 되기 위해, 우리가 그것을 사용하는 방법을 강조하기 위해 하나님의 말씀에 대한 2가지 다른 은유를 사용했던 것입니다.

5. Let me ask you something: how often are you consumed by negative thoughts, how often are you worried about the future, how often do you feel like you must give in to sin, how often do you feel like you can’t go on like this anymore, how often are consumed by your addiction : in correlation with those weaknesses is how much we should be focused on putting on the armor of God 

여러분에게 묻고 싶습니다.  얼마나 자주 부정적인 생각에 사로잡히십니까?  얼마나 자주 미래를 걱정하십니까?  얼마나 자주 죄에 굴복해야 한다고 느끼십니까?  얼마나 자주 더 이상 이렇게 살아갈 수 없다고 느끼십니까?  얼마나 자주 내가 갖고 있는 중독에 사로잡히십니까?  이러한 우리의 연약함을 생각할 때  우리는 더욱 하나님의 전신갑주를 입는 것에 집중해야 할 것입니다.

a) You regularly (even daily) are seeking God and His truth for your decisions and responses and attitudes and dreams 

여러분은 정기적으로, 심지어 매일, 하나님을 구해야 하며, 여러분들이 결정하고, 응답하고, 삶의 자세 및 꿈꾸는 모든 삶의 영역에 대해 하나님의 진리의 관점에서 추구해야 할 것입니다.

b) You commit to the boundaries and standards God gives in the scripture 

여러분은 삶의 규칙과 기준을 정하실 때, 하나님께서 성경을 통해 주신 기준 따라 정하셔야 합니다.

c) You continually learn about the character of God both from the Bible and the Spirit 

여러분은 성경과 성령을 통해 하나님의 성품을 계속 배우셔야 합니다.

d) You filter every circumstance through His word instead of leaning on your feelings or the opinion of others or being politically correct

여러분은 자신의 감정 또는 다른 사람의 의견에 의존하는 대신 모든 상황을 맞이하시면서 하나님의 말씀으로 분별하시기 바랍니다.

 

 

F. We admire the person Jesus was when He is on earth ; you can be that person.  Put on the belt of truth  

우리는 예수님께서 이 땅에 계실 때의 그 분의 모습을 존중합니다.  우리들도 예수님을 닮아 갈 수 있습니다.  그러기 위하여 진리의 허리띠, 즉 말씀을 붙잡으시기 바랍니다.

G. Let me give you just one example - Paul is about to show us what the use of the armor of God looks like.  

한가지 예를 들겠습니다.  바울이 하나님의 갑옷 사용의 한 모습을 보여주었습니다.

1. The Romans try and question Paul to figure out why the Jewish people want to kill him but they can’t figure it out. 

로마인들은 바울에게 질문하면서 유대인들이 그를 죽이려는 이유를 알아내려 했지만 그들은 알아내지 못했습니다.

2. So they take him to Jews leaders and so Paul is in court in front of a group called the Sanhedrin: This is what happens next: 

그래서 그들은 바울을 유대인 지도자들에게 데려갔고 바울은 마침내 산헤드린 공의회 앞에서 재판을 받게 됩니다.  다음의 구절은 그 다음의 장면입니다.

H. Acts 23 And looking intently at the council, Paul said, “Brothers, I have lived my life before God in all good conscience up to this day.” 2 And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. 3 Then Paul said to him, “God is going to strike you, you whitewashed wall! Are you sitting to judge me according to the law, and yet contrary to the law you order me to be struck?”

사도행전 23장 재판관 회의를 주의깊게 들여다 보며 바울이 이렇게 말했습니다.  형제들아, 나는 오늘까지 하나님 앞에서 항상 착한 양심을 가지고 살아왔습니다.  2. 대제사장 아나니아가 그 곁에 서 있는 사람들에게 입을 맞추라고 명령했습니다.  3. 이에 바울이 그에게 이르되, ‘하나님이 당신을 치실 것이다, 이 회칠한 담이여!  당신이 법에 따라 나를 심판하려 하면서도, 당신은 법을 어기면서 나를 치라고 하는도다…

1. This council that Paul is in front of is like a Jewish Supreme Court ; except more power than the supreme court that we know - these guys had the power to make sure you are killed or to make your life hell of earth 

바울이 직면한 이 공의회는 유대인의 최고 법정같은 것이었으며 우리가 알고 있는 최고 법원보다 더 많은 권력을 가졌던 기관이었습니다.-즉, 이들은 당신을 처형하거나 당신의 삶을 지옥으로 만들 수 있었던 세력들이었습니다.  

a) Paul looks them straight in the face - you know this: when someone is trying to intimidate you and you look at them right in the face and don’t flinch - you’re making a statement before you even say anything - you’re saying I’m not afraid of you.  You’re saying I will stand up for what I believe in not matter what you do to me. 

그러나 바울은 그들을 똑바로 쳐다보며 이렇게 말합니다.  당신들은 이것을 알고 있습니다.  누군가가 당신을 위협하려고 할 때 당신이 똑바로 그를 쳐다보고도 두려움을 보이지 않는다면-이는 말하기 전에 이미 메시지를 전달하고 있는 것입니다.-나는 당신들을 두려워하지 않습니다.  나는 당신들이 나에게 무엇을 해도 내가 믿는 것을 위해 일어 서겠습니다고 말하고 있는 것이었습니다.

b) Some of us don’t want to speak up in a small group or Bible class : imagine being in this very threatening setting and having to stand up for Christ - how could we be expected to do this? The belt of truth and the sword of the Spirit 

우리 중 일부는 소그룹이나 성경 공부 중에 말을 꺼내고 싶어하지 않을 수 있습니다.  이러한 위협적인 상황에서 그리스도를 위해 일어서야 한다면 어떻게 행동하는 것을 말하는 것일까요?  그것은 진리의 허리띠와 성령의 검으로 나아 가는 것을 말합니다.

c) In Ephesians 6 Paul says stand your ground having the belt of truth buckled around your waist 

에베소서 6장에서 바울은 진리의 허리띠를 띠고 서십시오 라고 말합니다.

d) The belt of truth stabilizes him and gives support to his core making him able to stand up in what would have been an intimidating situation \

진리의 허리띠는 그를 안정시키고 그의 핵심을 지탱하여 그가 위협적인 상황에서도 서 있을 수 있게 했습니다.

2. Some Bible scholars imagine that Paul would have been thinking of Ezekiel 3 when he was standing up to the Sanhedrin or Jewish Council 

일부 성경학자들은 바울이 이 유대인 공회의에 서 있을 때 에스겔 3장을 생각하고 있었을 것이라고 상상합니다.

a) 7 ..the people of Israel are not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for all the Israelites are hardened and obstinate. 8 But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are. 9 I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.”  Ezekiel 3:7-9 (NIV)  

그러나 이스라엘 족속은 이마가 굳고 마음이 굳어 네 말을 듣고자 아니하리니 이는 내 말을 듣고자 아니함이니라 8 보라 내가 그들의 얼굴을 마주 보도록  네 얼굴을 굳게 하였고 그들의 이마를 마주보도록 네 이마를 굳게 하였으되 9 네 이마를 화석보다 굳은 금강석 같이 하였으니 그들이 비록 반역하는 족속이라도 두려워하지 말며 그들의 얼굴을 무서워하지 말라 하시니라

Paul would have certainly have known this verse

바울은 분명히 이 구절을 알고 있었을 것입니다.

(1) He is immersed in the truth - what truth would he have been immersed in?  The old testament : the Hebrew scripture 

그는 진리의 말씀에 온전히 빠져 있습니다-그가 빠져 있었던 진리는 무엇입니까?  구약, 히브리 성경이었을 것입니다.

(2) He could call on verses like this in his most challenging moments to hold it together ; when he questioned, am I crazy or am I stupid - he could remind himself they don’t listen me cause they won’t listen to God 

그는 이러한 구절을 자신이 가장 어려운 순간에 이겨내기 위해 사용할 수 있었을 것입니다.  자기 자신을 향해 사람들이 ‘너는 미친 사람이야, 너는 바보같은 자야’ 라는 질문을 행했을 때, 바울은 사람들이 자신의 말을 듣지 않는 것은 자신이 아니라, 하나님의 말씀을 들으려고 하지 않는다는 것을 그는 늘 기억하였던 것입니다.

(3) Don’t be afraid of them - and he would be able to stand 

그들을 두려워하지 마라-그래서 바울은 견고하게 서 있을 수 있었습니다.

II. Close

A. So as Pastor David is being ordained are you ready to join him in the fight?  

그러므로 백승리 전도사님, 이제 안수 받으시면서 앞으로 사역하시는 동안 하나님의 이 영적 전쟁에 참여하실 준비가 되어 있으십니까?

B. If you are not having a relationship with Jesus Christ through the Word you will not be ready. My challenge to you today is put on the belt of truth.  Take up the sword of the Spirit.  Join in the fight!! 

만약 당신이 말씀을 토대로 한 예수 그리스도와의 관계를 갖지 않는다면 준비가 되지 않은 것일 것입니다.  오늘 이렇게 격려 드립니다.  진리의 허리 띠를 착용하십시오.  성령의 검을 드십시오.  그리고 이 전쟁터로 나아가시기 바랍니다.
