[말씀묵상 366] 신 26:1-19 (04/11/24) "교회는 이 세상에 왜 존재하는가?  어떻게 존재해야 하는가?" "Why does the church exist in this world? How should it exist?"

교회는 교회를 위해서 존재해서는 안됩니다.  교회는 세상을 위해 존재해야 합니다.  이스라엘 백성들의 가나안 정복이 자신들을 위한 것이 아니라, '열방의 제사장 나라'가 되기 위한 것처럼...(출 19장).  그리고 교회는 '세상'의 소금과 빛이 되어야 하는 것처럼...

그러기 위해서 3편의 설교로 구성된 신명기서에서 2번째 설교의 마지막 결론에 해당하는 26장은 '가나안 정복의 이유와 정복의 방식'에 대해 설명합니다.

1) 교회는 공급하시고 인도하시는 하나님을 기억하고 경배, 예배하는 공동체임을 기억해야 합니다(1-10)

2) 그 하나님의 영광의 임재가 임할 때 만이 참된 풍성함을 체험하기에, 그 풍성함은 지역 사회, 이웃을 향한 사랑과 은혜를 나누는 복의 통로가 될 수 있고, 되어야 합니다(11-15)

3) 즉 교회는 열방을 위한, 향한 제사장 역할을 감당해야 합니다(16-19)

교회는 교회를 위해 존재하는 것이 아니고,

세상을 위해 존재하는 것입니다.

"Why does the church exist in this world? How should it exist?"

The church should not exist for its own sake. The church should exist for the world. Just as the conquest of Canaan by the people of Israel was not for themselves, but to become a "kingdom of priests and a holy nation" (Exodus 19). And the church should be the "salt" and "light" in the world...

To achieve this, Deuteronomy 26, the conclusion of the second sermon in the three-part sermons in Deuteronomy, explains the "reason and manner of the conquest of Canaan."

The church should remember that it is a community that remembers, worships, and serves the God who provides and leads (1-10).

When the bounty of God's glory comes, true abundance can only be experienced, and that abundance can and should become a channel of blessing, sharing love and grace with the local community and neighbors (11-15).

In other words, the church should bear the priestly role directed towards the nations (16-19).

The church does not exist for itself,

but for the world.
