[말씀묵상 366 / 사도행전 22] 행 10:1-16 (052224) "변화/개혁은 가능한가...?  어떻게 가능한가...?"

사람이 변할 수 있을까요?  이런 질문을 종종 듣습니다.  그런데 사도행전을 보면 가능함을 알게 됩니다.  그래서 사도행전을 잘 묵상하고, 순종하고 나아갈 때 우리 삶에 능력행전, 선교행전, 변혁행전의 삶을 살아가게 될 줄 믿습니다.

변화와 개혁은 '혁명'과는 다른 의미입니다.  혁명은 인간이 인간을 위해 행하는 것이라면, 개혁은 하나님의 창조 원리와 상태를 회복하는 것을 의미하는 것입니다.  바벨탑은 과학 기술의 발달로 당시로 봐서는 혁명적인 상황이었을 것입니다.  그러나 그 속에 인간 중심, 이기적 동기가 있었기에 완성되지 못했고, 실패했습니다.

신앙인이 가져야 할 목표는 혁명이 아니라, 개혁입니다.  창조를 회복하는 것입니다. 오늘 본문에서 고넬료라는 이방인이 그리스도의 보혈로 깨끗함을 입는 그 출발의 모습을 보게 됩니다(15).  원래 창조는 전 인류를 향한 것이었습니다.  구원을 위해서, 메시야 탄생을 위해서 선택 받은 민족이 유대민족일 따름입니다.  그리스도 예수가 오신 이후 이제 복음은 다시 전 인류에게로 향해야 했고, 그 장면이 바로 사도행전 10장인 것입니다.  그런 의미에서 사도행전 10장은 개혁의 장입니다.

고넬료는 당시 이방인이었지만, 하나님을 향하는 마음이 있었고, 구제와 기도에도 열심이었습니다.  하나님을 기본적으로 향했다는 것은 그가 진리를 열망했고, 신앙에 대한 관심과 마음이 있었음을 의미합니다.  하나님은 고넬료의 이러한 마음을 귀하게 보셨으리라 믿습니다.  그러나 고넬료의 이러한 진리의 열망에도 반드시 있어야 할 과정이 필요했습니다.

그것은 십자가의 보혈로 자신의 죄가 사해 지고, 예수 그리스도를 의지하고 믿음으로 참된 구원을 받는 것이었습니다.  그래서 하나님은 베드로에게 먼저 '하나님께서 깨끗하게 하신 것을 네가 속되다 하지 말라'(15) 말씀하심으로 십자가 보혈의 정결 능력을 말씀해 주십니다.

우리의 삶에 예수 그리스도의 십자가 보혈을 의지할 때, 우리는 참된 개혁, 즉 창조의 상황을 회복할 수 있습니다.  하나님과의 관계도, 사람과의 관계도, 자연과의 관계도 우리는 회복할 수 있습니다.  

이러한 개혁은 반드시 되어야 합니다.

나의 삶을 돌아보며 혹시 개혁되어야 할 영역이 어떤 것이 있을지 돌아보기를 원합니다.

그리고 예수 그리스도의 십자가 능력을 의지하며 나아갑시다.

변화되고 개혁되는 역사가 일어날 줄 믿습니다.  아멘!

"Is Change/Reformation Possible...? How Can It Be Achieved...?"

Can people change? I often hear this question. When we look at the Book of Acts, we realize that change is possible. By meditating on and obeying Acts, we can live a life of powerful acts, missionary acts, and transformative acts.

Change and reformation differ from revolution. Revolution is something humans do for themselves, whereas reformation means restoring God's principles and creation. The Tower of Babel was a revolutionary situation given the technological advances of that time. However, it failed due to its human-centered, selfish motives.

The goal for believers should be reformation, not revolution. It is about restoring creation. In today's passage, we see the beginning of an outsider, Cornelius, being cleansed by the blood of Christ (v. 15). Creation was originally for all humanity. The Jewish nation was chosen for salvation and the birth of the Messiah. After Christ came, the gospel was to be directed to all humanity again, and this is what Acts 10 illustrates. Therefore, Acts 10 is a chapter of reformation.

Cornelius, though a Gentile, had a heart for God and was earnest in giving and praying. His basic orientation toward God indicates his longing for truth and interest in faith. God valued Cornelius's heart. However, even with such a desire for truth, there was an essential process Cornelius had to undergo.

He needed to have his sins forgiven by the blood of the cross and receive true salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Thus, God first told Peter, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean" (v. 15), highlighting the purifying power of the blood of the cross.

When we rely on the blood of Jesus Christ in our lives, we can achieve true reformation, restoring the state of creation. We can restore our relationship with God, with others, and with nature.

Such reformation is essential.

I want to reflect on my life and see which areas need reformation.

And let's move forward, relying on the power of the cross of Jesus Christ.
