[말씀묵상 366 / 사도행전 25] 행 11:1-18 (052524) "진리/복음전파 후 저항이 올 때 가져야 할 자세!"

복음 전파는 반드시 저항이 있게 마련입니다.  왜냐하면 세상의 넓은 길, 세상의 가치관과 다른 진리관, 가치관을 전파하기 때문입니다.  저항이 없다면 오히려 문제라 할 수 있겠습니다.

베드로도 이방인 고넬료에게 복음 전했을 때 유대교 신자로부터 저항을 받았습니다.  이 때 어떻게 반응하느냐가 중요합니다.  베드로는 대꾸하지 않았고, 적절하게 대응하였습니다.

첫째, 말씀과 기도로 확신과 평안 가운데 복음을 전했습니다(5, 16).  이는 예방책이기도 합니다.  내가 복음 전하는 것이 말씀에 의한, 기도에 의한 확신과 평안이 있을 때 바르게 전할 수 있습니다.  그래서 늘 말씀과 기도로 시작해야 합니다.

둘째, 감정적 대안이 아닌, 차분히 답변해 주었습니다(4).  유대인들의 저항에 대해서 베드로는 '차례로 차분히' 답변해 주었다고 성경은 말합니다(in orderly sequence, NASB).  '감정적 대응'이 되면 안됩니다.  그래서 늘 성령의 열매를 구해야 합니다(평강과 화평의 열매).

셋째, 하나님으로부터 역사한 일임을 확신하고 설명해 주어야 합니다(5-15).  사람 레벨에서 말하게 되면 자칫 논쟁이 되기 쉽습니다.  유대주의자들이든, 유대교 신봉자들이든, 기독교인이든 모두 진정한 하나님의 뜻을 묻고, 그 하나님의 영적 권위에 의한 상황임을 깨달았을 때, 모두 받아 들이고, 이방인에게 복음이 증거되는 새로운 장이 열리게 됩니다.

저항이 올 때 바르게 대하는 것도 복음전파에서 매우 중요합니다.

'복음적으로' 복음을 전하는 것도 중요합니다!

Proclaiming the gospel inevitably encounters resistance. This is because it presents a worldview and values that differ from the broad path and values of the world. If there were no resistance, it might actually indicate a problem.

Peter also faced resistance from Jewish believers when he preached the gospel to the Gentile Cornelius. How we respond in such situations is crucial. Peter did not react defensively but responded appropriately.

First, he proclaimed the gospel with conviction and peace rooted in the Word and prayer (verses 5, 16). This serves as a preventative measure. When we are assured and at peace through the Word and prayer, we can share the gospel correctly. Therefore, we must always begin with the Word and prayer.

Second, he responded calmly rather than emotionally (verse 4). The Bible states that Peter responded to the Jewish resistance "in orderly sequence" (NASB). It is important not to reacted emotionally. Thus, we should always seek the fruit of the Spirit (peace and tranquility).

Third, he confidently explained that it was an act of God (verses 5-15). If we speak on a human level, it can easily turn into a debate. When all parties—whether Judaizers, Jewish adherents, or Christians—seek God's true will and realize the situation is under God's spiritual authority, they accept it. This opens a new chapter where the gospel can be preached to the Gentiles.

Responding correctly to resistance is also very important in gospel proclamation.

It is important to preach the 'gospel,' and

it is also important to preach the gospel 'in a gospel-centered way!'
