[말씀묵상 366] 행 13:13-31 (052924) "선교적 삶을 살아갈 때 가져야 하는 자세들...!"

영어로 mission 이라는 표현은 '선교'로 이해되기도 하지만, '사명 혹은 소명'으로 이해되기도 합니다.  그래서 Missional Life 라고 했을 때 '선교적 삶'이라고 이해할 수 있지만, '사명적 삶, 혹은 소명적 삶'으로 이해하기도 해야 합니다.

요즈음 많이 나눠 지고 있는 '미션널(혹은 미션얼) 라이프'라는 표현을 단순히 지리적으로 먼 곳, 복음이 없는 곳에 가서 선교하는 것만 말하는 것이 아니라, 삶의 현장이 바로 선교지이고, 선교사적 삶으로서 사명과 소명을 다하는 삶으로 이해함이 맞다는 관점을 갖는 것이 필요합니다.

그런 관점에서 사도 바울과 그의 일행들이 1차 전도 여행 중 가졌던 자세를 오늘 나의 삶의 현장에 점검하고 적용하는 것은 필요합니다.  1차 전도여행은 시리아(수리아) 안디옥 교회에서 시작하여 구브로 섬을 넘어 비시디아 안디옥까지 가는 과정인데, 오늘 본문에서는 구브로 섬에서 부터 밤빌리아의 버가 항구도시로 와서 토로스 산맥을 넘어 160킬로미터 거리를 강행군 한 뒤에 도착한 비시다아 안디옥 지역까지 가는 여정, 그리고 그 곳에서의 사역을 나눠 줍니다.

이러한 과정에서 바울과 그의 일행이 가졌던 선교적 여정에서의 자세를 배우는 것은 매우 중요합니다.

첫째, 지리적, 상황적 고난을 만나더라도 연단의 과정임을 이해하고, 믿고 전진하는 불굴의 믿음을 가져야 합니다(13-14).  버가에서 비시디아 안디옥까지는 타우루스 산맥을 넘는 험난한 여정이 있습니다.  거리도 멀지만, 산맥이라는 험한 지형이고, 맹수의 위협도 있고, 강도의 위협도 있는 곳입니다.  그러나 신앙인은 어떤 고난(심지어 죽음까지도)도 극복되며(부활신앙), 연단으로 인도하시고, 또 분명 열매로 인도하실 하나님을 믿는 신앙이기에, 선교적 목표가 뚜렷함이 확인 된다면 그 목표를 향하여 상황을 뚫고 나아가야 할 것입니다.  고난이 와도 주저앉지 맙시다.  뚫고 나갑시다.

둘째, 하나님의 섭리적 인도가 있음을 믿으며, 선교자는 일상의 삶에서도 최선을 다 함이 필요합니다(15-16).  사도 바울이 선교지로 갔을 때 대부분 가장 먼저 간 곳은 이미 있는 유대인 회당이었습니다.  그 곳은 장소가 제공되고, 구약 성경을 함께 나눌 수 있기에 선교 출발지로 매우 적합합니다.  비시디아 안디옥에서도 그렇게 랍비 출신인 바울을 말씀 나누도록 안식일 회당에서 요청이 들어 왔습니다.  그렇게 하기 위해서 바울이 일상에서 최선과 열정의 삶을 산 것이 하나의 배경과 도구가 된 것입니다(물론 회심의 과정을 거쳐서 그 일상과 삶의 과거 여정을 구원의 관점에서 재정리하는 것은 필요합니다).  일상을 소중히 여기고, 주어진 삶에서 최선 다할 때, 그러한 준비된 영역을 통해 하나님은 선교적 도구로 사용하십니다.

셋째, 예수 그리스도 중심의 구속사적 성경 이해가 반드시 필요합니다(17-31).  사도 바울은 회당에서 구약의 전체를 다 설명합니다.  그리고 그 구약을 예수 그리스도의 구속 사역에 초점을 맞추어서 설명합니다.  유대인들이 갖고 있었던 구약을 활용하여, 전체 설명과 함께 그 구약의 초점을 그리스도께 맞추는 설명을 진지하게 함으로 바울은 논리적으로도 유대인들에게 강력하게 복음을 받아 들이도록 설명합니다.

오늘 본문을 통해서 세가지 선교적 삶의 자세를 함께 정리해 볼 수 있었습니다.  불굴의 믿음, 섭리를 믿는 최선의 일상, 그리고 구속사적 관점에서의 성경 이해와 정립.

이 세가지 자세를 오늘 점검하고, 정비하여

삶의 현장에서 언제나 복음의 증인이 되는 삶을 살기를 간절히 소망합니다.

오늘도 선교적 삶을 불러주신 일상 삶의 현장에서 살아가게 하소서!

In English, the term "mission" can be understood as "mission" in the sense of missionary work, but it can also be understood as "calling" or "vocation." Therefore, when we talk about "Missional Life," it is important to understand it not only as "a missionary life" but also as "a life of calling" or "a vocational life."

The term "Missional Life," which is frequently discussed these days, should not be limited to going to geographically distant places where there is no gospel to do missionary work. Rather, we need to understand it as living out our calling and vocation in our everyday life, which itself is a mission field.

From this perspective, it is essential to examine and apply the attitudes that Paul and his companions had during their first missionary journey to our own lives. The first missionary journey started from the church in Antioch, Syria, went through the island of Cyprus, and reached Pisidian Antioch. Today’s passage covers their journey from Cyprus to the port city of Perga in Pamphylia, their strenuous march over the Taurus Mountains, and their arrival in the region of Pisidian Antioch, where they carried out their mission work.

Learning from the attitudes displayed by Paul and his companions during their missionary journey is crucial.

First, we must have unyielding faith that understands and believes that hardships, whether geographical or situational, are part of the process of refinement and continue to advance (verses 13-14). The journey from Perga to Pisidian Antioch involved crossing the rugged Taurus Mountains, which was a long and treacherous path fraught with threats from wild animals and bandits. However, as believers, we hold a resurrection faith that overcomes any hardship (even death) and trust that God will lead us through refinement and eventually bring forth fruit. If our missional goal is clear, we must press forward through any situation. Do not be discouraged by hardships. Press on.

Second, we need to believe in God's providential guidance and strive to do our best in everyday life (verses 15-16). When Paul went to a mission field, he usually started with the existing Jewish synagogue. These places provided a venue and allowed for the sharing of the Old Testament, making them ideal starting points for missions. In Pisidian Antioch, Paul, being a rabbi, was invited to share the word in the synagogue on the Sabbath. Paul’s diligent and passionate life in his daily routine served as the background and tool for this opportunity (of course, it is necessary to reassess one’s past journey from a salvific perspective through the conversion process). Valuing daily life and doing our best in the given circumstances prepares us, and God uses these prepared areas as tools for mission.

Third, it is crucial to have a Christ-centered, redemptive understanding of the Bible (verses 17-31). In the synagogue, Paul explained the entire Old Testament, focusing on the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Using the Old Testament that the Jews were familiar with, Paul provided a comprehensive explanation and earnestly connected its focus to Christ, logically and powerfully presenting the gospel to the Jews.

Today's passage allows us to summarize three attitudes for a missional life: unyielding faith, doing our best in daily life while trusting in God's providence, and having a redemptive understanding of the Bible focused on Jesus Christ.

By examining and adjusting these three attitudes today, I earnestly hope to live as a witness of the gospel in my daily life.

Lord, help me to live out a missional life in my everyday circumstances!
