(계 19:11-21) 성도가 가져야 할 기쁨의 기준

“또 내가 하늘이 열린 것을 보니 보라 백마와 그것을 탄 자가 있으니 그 이름은 충신과 진실이라 그가 공의로 심판하며 싸우더라”(11)

16-18장까지의 마지막 심판인 대접 심판이 끝나고 19장 부터는 영광의 심판과 상급의 모습을 설명합니다(1-10).  어제 본문에서 함께 나눈 세 번의 할렐루야는 그 자체로 참으로 영광된 모습을 간절한 마음으로 기대하게 합니다.

그래서 성도는 이 땅에서의 어떤 어려움 속에서도 기쁨을 기대하며 산 소망 가운데 살아갑니다.  이러한 모든 상황은 바로 심판주로 오시는 예수 그리스도로 인함입니다.

‘또 내가 하늘이 열린 것을 보니…’(11)라는 표현은 가장 중요한 순간, 상황에 대한 요한계시록의 또 다른 묘사입니다.  실은 오늘 본문은 요한계시록의 모든 장면 중 가장 핵심이 되는 순간에 대한 묘사 입니다.  왜냐하면 요한계시록에서 가장 핵심이 되는 장면들(예를 들어 인을 여는 상황, 하늘 보좌의 응답이 일어나는 상황 등)은 어린양 예수 그리스도를 통하지 않고는 되지 않기 때문입니다.

그래서 예수 그리스도가 누구 이신가, 어떤 분이신가를 묵상하는 것은 매우 중요합니다.  그래서, 오늘 본문에서도 예수 그리스도를 길게 소개합니다.  자세하게 소개합니다.

백마와 그것을 탄 분, 충신과 진실로 표현되시는 분, 공의로 심판하시며 싸우시는 분(11), 불꽃 같은 눈을 가지신 분, 많은 관을 쓰신 분, 그 분만 갖고 있는 신비의 분(12), 피 뿌린 옷을 입으신 분(십자가의 예수님), 하나님의 말씀이신 분(13), 예리한 검으로 말씀 하시는 분, 만국을 치시는 분, 철창으로 다스리시는 분, 진노의 포도주 틀을 밟으시는 분(15), 만왕의 왕, 만주의 주(16) 등으로…

이분이 결국 마귀에 사로 잡힌 자들, 거짓 선지자들 등에 의해 사로 잡힌 자들을 모두 산 채로 유황불 못에 던지신다고(20) 말씀 하십니다.

무서운 장면이면서도, 너무나 중요한 장면입니다.  예수님은 구세주 되시기도 하시지만, 심판주 되십니다.  예수님을 구주로 영접하고, 그리고 계속해서 그 분을 묵상하고, 그 분만을 따르는 삶을 살아갈 때, 심판의 때 오히려 두려움 보다는 기대와 감사로 맞이하게 될 것입니다.  영벌이 아니라 영생으로 계속 인도함 받을 것이기 때문입니다.

그래서 예수로 인해 구원 받은 자는 반드시 예수님을 내 삶의 기준과 목표로 삼고 따라가는… ‘제자로 살아가는 삶’을 살아가야 합니다.  그럴 때, 다시 오실 주님 맞이하는 것이 두렵지 않고, 기쁜 기대로 맞이하게 될 것입니다.

우리는 양입니다.  양의 목표는 푸른 초장, 맑은 물가가 아닙니다.  목자만을 따라가야 합니다.  즉, 양의 목표는 목자(를 따라감)입니다.  푸른 초장과 맑은 물가에 양이 가 있는데…. 옆에, 앞에 목자가 없다면… 그 상황이 가장 위험한 때입니다.  

성도는 주님만이 목표가 되어야 하고, 주님만을 따라가고 있는 삶을 살아야 합니다.  주님을 따라가는 삶이 내 삶의 기쁨의 기준이 되어야 합니다.  

"I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war." (Verse 11)

From chapters 16 to 18, the final judgment, known as the bowl judgments, concludes. Starting from chapter 19, it describes the judgment of glory and the appearance of the Bride. The three Hallelujahs shared in yesterday's text lead us to eagerly anticipate the truly glorious appearance.

Therefore, the saints live in expectation of joy amid any difficulties on this earth, living in the hope of the mountain. All these situations are because of Jesus Christ, who comes as the judge.

"'I saw heaven standing open...' (Verse 11) is another description of the most important moment and situation in the Book of Revelation. This is because the most critical scenes in Revelation (such as the situation where the scroll is opened and the response of the heavenly throne) cannot happen without the Lamb, Jesus Christ.

Therefore, it is very important to meditate on who Jesus Christ is and what kind of person He is. So, today's passage also introduces Jesus Christ at length. It introduces in detail.

The one who rides the white horse, the one described as faithful and true, the one who judges with righteousness and fights (Verse 11), the one with eyes like blazing fire, the one with many crowns on his head, the mysterious one who has only he (Verse 12), the one who wears robes sprinkled with blood (Jesus Christ on the cross), the one who is the word of God (Verse 13), the one who speaks with a sharp sword, the one who strikes all nations, the one who rules with an iron scepter, the one who treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath (Verse 15), the king of kings and the lord of lords (Verse 16), and so on...

Ultimately, He says He will cast all those who have been captured by the devil, false prophets, and those who have been captured into the lake of sulfur (Verse 20).

It is a frightening scene but also a very important one. Jesus is not only the Savior but also the Judge. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, continue to meditate on Him, and live a life following only Him, you will welcome the time of judgment with expectation and gratitude rather than fear. It is because you will continue to be led not to eternal punishment but to eternal life.

Therefore, those who are saved through Jesus must make Jesus the standard and goal of their lives and live a life of following Him as disciples. When you live a life following Jesus, it should be the criterion of joy in your life.

We are sheep. The goal of the sheep is not to go to the green meadow and clear water. You must follow only the shepherd. In other words, if there are sheep in the green meadow and clear water... If there is no shepherd beside or in front... That is the most dangerous time.

Saints should only aim for the Lord, follow only the Lord, and live a life following the Lord. Living a life following the Lord should be the criterion of joy in my life.
