(요한복음 9:1-12)

“때가 아직 낮이매 나를 보내신 이의 일을 우리가 하여야 하리라 밤이 오리니 그 때는 아무도 일할 수 없느니라”(4)

삶에서 지혜로운 자세중의 하나는 근원, 근본을 묻는 것입니다.  근원 혹은 근본을 알게 될 때 문제의 핵심을 깨닫게 되고, 해결의 길도 알 수 있게 되기 때문입니다.

날 때부터 맹인 된 사람을 향하여 그 근본 목적을 하나님이 하시는 일을 나타내려 하심이라고 예수님은 말씀해 주십니다(1-3).  이 세상의 빛보다 더 근본적인 빛은 바로 자기 자신, 즉 하나님이시고, 이 하나님을 만나야 ‘참된 봄’을 이룩한다는 말씀입니다(4-5).

소경 되어서 보지 못한 이 사람의 근본적인 어두움은 참된 빛, 예수 그리스도를 지금까지 만나지 못한 것이었습니다.  그러나 이제 그는 근원적 빛 되시는 주님을 만남으로 인해 육적 눈 뿐만 아니라, 영적 눈, 즉 근원적인 빛을 깨닫는 사람이 되었습니다.

나는 참 빛, 근원적 빛 되신 예수님을 만났습니까?  이 근원적 빛 되시는 예수님을 늘 따르고 있습니까? 

이 빛을 온 삶으로 향하는 자 만이, 세상에 그 근원적 빛을 환하게 비출 수 있습니다. 

보름 달빛처럼…

(John 9:1–12)

“While it is day, we must do the works of Him who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work.” (v.4)

One of the wisest attitudes in life is to ask about the origin and the foundation. When we understand the origin or the root, we are able to grasp the heart of the problem and also discover the way to its solution.

Regarding the man who was blind from birth, Jesus explains that the fundamental purpose was to reveal the work of God (vv.1–3). The light that is more fundamental than the light of this world is Jesus Himself—God—and only by meeting this God can one experience “true sight” (vv.4–5).

The deepest darkness of this man, who could not see because he was blind, was that he had not yet encountered the true Light, Jesus Christ. But now, by meeting the Lord who is the original and foundational Light, he came not only to receive physical sight, but also spiritual sight—an understanding of the true, essential Light.

Have I met Jesus, the true Light, the foundational Light?

Am I continually following this Jesus, the source of Light?

Only the one who directs his whole life toward this Light can brightly reflect that original Light into the world—
