(요한복음 11:38-46) 주님을 믿는 믿음, 주님의 말씀대로 믿는 믿음!

(요한복음 11:38-46)

* 큐티(Quiet Time)는 개인이 하나님의 말씀을 통해 하나님과 깊은 교제를 갖는 Quality Time을 의미합니다. 먼저 오늘 본문을 개인적으로 묵상하시고, 아래 내용을 참조하시기 바랍니다.

“죽은 지가 나흘이 되었으매 벌써 냄새가 나나이다..."(39)

마르다는 불과 조금 전에 예수님으로부터 "나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고..."라는 말씀을 들었지만, 가슴에 받아 들이지는 않았습니다(39).  듣기는 들었지만(hear), 믿음으로 듣지도(listen), 마음에 새기지도(believe and obey) 않았습니다.

그래서 그녀는 다시 믿음이 아닌 사람의 경험에 입각한 한계의 표현을 합니다.  “주여, 죽은 지가 나흘이 되었으매 벌써 냄새가 나나이다”(39).

주님은 창조주 하나님이십니다(창 1:1; 요1:1).  주님은 없는 데서 있게 하시고, 생명도 창조하시기에, 죽음도 이기시는 분이십니다.  

‘죽어도 살겠고 무릇 살아서 믿는 자는 영원히 죽지 아니하리니 이것을 네가 믿느냐’(26)라고 확인하신 주님의 의도는 단순한 놀라운 일을 행하는 자에 대한 믿음이 아니라, ‘창조주 하나님에 대한 믿음’을 말씀하신 것입니다.

하나님을 하나님으로 믿는 것이 신앙입니다!  그리고 그 신앙의 가장 중요한 표현은 ‘하나님께서 말씀 하신 그대로’를 믿는 것입니다.  믿음의 척도는 말씀에 대한 나의 자세로 구분됩니다.

나는 하나님을 하나님으로 믿습니까?  아니면, 내가 생각하고, 내가 만든, 나의 한계속에 있는 ‘하나님’을 믿습니까?  나는 말씀을 듣기만(hear) 합니까?  가슴으로 듣고(listen), 말씀하신 ‘그대로 순종(believe and obey)’합니까?

오늘 나는 ‘어떤 믿음’을 가졌는지를 스스로 깊게 돌아보기를 원합니다.  

참된 믿음은 삶에서 실제로 나타나는 능력이기 때문입니다!(44)

“Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” (v.39)

Just a short time earlier, Martha of Bethany had heard Jesus Christ say, “Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live…” Yet she had not truly received those words in her heart (v.39). She heard the words, but she did not truly listen in faith, nor did she embrace and obey them.

So once again she spoke from the limits of human experience rather than from faith:

“Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days” (v.39).

The Lord is the Creator God (Book of Genesis 1:1; Gospel of John 1:1). He brings something out of nothing and is the One who creates life; therefore, He is also the One who overcomes death.

When Jesus asked, “Whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (v.26), His intention was not simply to lead people to believe in someone who performs amazing miracles. Rather, He was calling them to believe in God the Creator.

True faith means believing in God as God.

And the most important expression of that faith is believing exactly what God has spoken. The measure of our faith is revealed by our attitude toward His Word.

Do I truly believe in God as God?

Or do I believe in a “god” shaped by my own thoughts and limited understanding?

Do I merely hear the Word?

Or do I listen with my heart and believe and obey exactly what He has spoken?

Today, I want to take time to reflect deeply on what kind of faith I truly have.

For genuine faith is not just an idea—it is a power that is revealed in real life (v.44). ✨????
