(요한복음 12:44-50) 성화의 삶-적용

오늘 본문은 지난 주일(3/8) 설교 본문이었습니다.  일주일동안 저 자신, 나눈 내용을 토대로 한번 다음과 같이 세가지 영역에 대해서 다시 정리해 보고, 적용 및 실천을 노력해 보았습니다.  각자 말씀을 토대로 어떻게 정리/실천하였는지 주일 설교 후 늘 돌아보면 좋겠습니다.

첫째, 삼위일체 하나님 믿는 신앙관련하여

이는 기독론을 넘어 삼위일체 하나님 믿는 신앙을 말합니다.  즉, 창조, 타락, 구속, 완성 및 하나님 주권과 섭리 사상을 많이 생각할 때, 구원의 폭이 넓어지고, 이를 통해서 사회, 문화, 예술, 정치 등의 영역 회복, 그리고 개인적으로 걱정, 불안 대신 더 하나님 중심으로 생각하고, 살아가는 삶이라 생각되었습니다.

이를 일주일 동안 삶의 구체적인 영역에서, 그리고 비슷한 상황이 생길 때 주권과 섭리의 신앙 관점에서 생각하고, 순종할 때 많은 담대함, 감사함, 소망 등의 삶을 반복적으로 살아가게 되었습니다.

완전하지는 않더라도요…

둘째, 빛된 삶과 관련하여

참된 거룩과 경건의 능력의 삶으로 이해됩니다.  실은 이 부분은 현대인들이 많이 봐야 할 부분이라 생각됩니다.  신앙인으로서 빛된 삶, 모범된 삶으로 적용될 수 있고, 또는 빛이 올 때 더러운 부분이 드러나고, 그로 인해 깨끗하게 되듯이, 게임, 스마트 폰, 포르노 등 등의 중독으로 부터 벗어나는 삶도 빛된 삶으로 인해 갖게 되는 거룩과 경건의 능력의 삶으로 인도함 받을 수 있겠습니다.  특별히 이러한 거룩한 삶은 지난 수요 성경 공부 ‘몸에 대한 신앙인의 정립’(고전 6장) 부분을 꼭 참조하시면 좋겠습니다.

셋째, 말씀을 더 적극적으로 따르는 삶과 관련하여

예수님께서 이제 유월절 이후 죽음/부활/승천하시기에 체험적 신앙(기적)을 넘어 표적을 믿는 신앙(말씀 따르는 삶, 성령님에 의해서)을 요한복음에서는 매우 많이 강조하고 있습니다.  이 부분을 삶에서 더 깊게 순종함이 중요하다고 봅니다.  저는, 목회자로서 말씀을 더 잘 연구하고, 더 잘 가르치고 그렇게 해야 하는데... 늘 부족해서... 저 자신, 이런 부분을 돌아보고 구체적으로 연구, 묵상, 실천하는 것을 계속 적용하며 살려고 노력하겠습니다.

(Reflection)

Today’s passage was the text for last Sunday’s sermon (3/8). Over the past week, I personally revisited the message and tried to summarize and apply it in three areas. It would be good for each of us to regularly reflect after Sunday’s sermon on how we have organized, applied, and practiced the Word in our lives.

First, regarding faith in the Triune God

This goes beyond Christology and speaks about faith in the Triune God. When we think deeply about themes such as creation, the fall, redemption, and completion, as well as God’s sovereignty and providence, the scope of salvation becomes broader. Through this perspective, we can also consider the restoration of various areas such as society, culture, art, and politics. On a personal level, instead of living with worry and anxiety, we are led to think and live more God-centered lives.

Throughout the week, as I tried to apply this perspective to specific situations in life and approached similar circumstances from the viewpoint of God’s sovereignty and providence, I repeatedly experienced a life marked by greater boldness, gratitude, and hope—even though it was not perfect.

Second, regarding a life in the light

This can be understood as a life empowered by true holiness and godliness. In fact, this is an area that many people today need to reflect on more deeply. As believers, it can be applied as living a life that reflects the light—a life of example. Just as when light shines, hidden impurities are exposed and then cleansed, a life in the light can lead us to break free from various addictions such as gaming, smartphones, pornography, and similar struggles. Such freedom is part of the life of holiness and godliness that comes through living in the light.

In particular, for a clearer understanding of this holy life, it would be helpful to refer to last Wednesday’s Bible study, “A Believer’s Understanding of the Body” (1 Corinthians 6).

Third, regarding living a life that more actively follows the Word

Since Jesus would soon face His death, resurrection, and ascension after the Passover, the Gospel of John strongly emphasizes a faith that believes in the meaning of the signs—moving beyond merely experiential faith based on miracles—to a faith that follows the Word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, deeper obedience to the Word in daily life is very important. As a pastor, I know that I should study the Word more diligently and teach it more effectively. Yet I am always aware of my shortcomings. Reflecting on this, I am striving to continue applying this in my life by studying, meditating on, and practicing the Word more intentionally and concretely.
