(고린도전서 5:1-13) 신앙 공동체 안에서 정립되어야 할 건강한 성 생활

(고린도전서 5:1-13)

“적은 누룩이 온 덩어리에 퍼지는 것을 알지 못하느냐”(6b)

고린도 교회 안에 행해졌던 음행은 심각한 것이었습니다.  계모와 동거하는 음행이 발생한 것입니다(1).  더 심각한 것은 이런 음행에 대해서 악으로 여기지 않는 영적 무감함 이었습니다(2).

하나님께서 허락하시지 않은 영역에서의 성적 행위는 영혼을 망가뜨리고, 가정과 공동체와 사회를 망가뜨리는 사탄의 계략입니다(5-6).

신앙 공동체는 성적 영역에 대해 선명한 기준에 의한 정직한 분별과 판단을 행해야 합니다(3-4).  타락한 세속적 가치관에 입각한 묵은 누룩과 같은 잘못된 삶의 기준은 과감하게, 냉철하게 버려야 합니다.  이는 유월절 양 곧 십자가의 그리스도를 의지함으로 가능합니다(7-8).

그리고 신앙 공동체 안에서 단호한 분리와 단절의 생활, 관계를 재 정립해야 합니다(9-13).  적은 누룩이 온 덩어리에 퍼지는 것은 너무나 빨리, 쉽게 진행됩니다.  

하나님께서 허락하신 건강한 성적 영역 외의 성행위를 개인적으로나, 신앙공동체적으로 허용하는 것은 개인과 전체를 급하게, 크게 망가 뜨리는 요인이 되기 때문입니다.

단호해야 할 부분은 단호하게 해야 세상 속에서 있되 사람을 살리는 방주가 되지, 그렇지 않으면 물 속에 빠져 버려서 사람을 살리지 못하는 침몰선이 되고 맙니다.

하나님 안에서 정립되고 행해지는 ‘성(性, sex)’의 삶은 거룩한 삶(聖-holy life)이고, 나도, 가정도, 세상도 살리는 삶(成) 입니다.

(1 Corinthians 5:1–13)

“Do you not know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?” (v. 6b)

The sexual immorality that had taken place in the Corinthian church was severe. A man was living with his father’s wife (v. 1). Even more serious was the spiritual insensitivity that no longer regarded such immorality as evil (v. 2).

Any sexual activity outside the boundaries permitted by God destroys the soul and functions as a scheme of Satan that ruins families, communities, and society (vv. 5–6).

The faith community must exercise honest discernment and judgment based on clear biblical standards regarding sexual matters (vv. 3–4). False standards of life, like old yeast rooted in corrupt worldly values, must be decisively and soberly removed. This is made possible through reliance on Christ, the Passover Lamb (vv. 7–8).

Furthermore, within the community of faith, there must be decisive separation and a reordering of relationships (vv. 9–13). A little yeast spreads through the whole batch very quickly and easily.

Allowing sexual behavior outside the healthy and God-ordained boundaries—whether individually or within the faith community—quickly becomes a factor that severely damages both individuals and the whole body.

What must be dealt with firmly must be handled firmly; otherwise, the church will not become an ark that saves people in the world, but a sinking ship that fails to rescue anyone.

A life of sexuality (性, sex) established and practiced in God is a holy life (聖, holy life), and it is also a life that brings life and flourishing to oneself, one’s family, and the world (成).
