(고린도전서 6:1-11) 교회는 세상과 달라야 합니다.

(고린도전서 6:1-11)

“주 예수 그리스도의 이름과 우리 하나님의 성령 안에서 씻음과 거룩함과 의롭다 하심을 받았느니라”(11)

신앙 공동체 안에서 분쟁이 일어 났을 때 어떻게 해야 할까요?  세상 법정으로 가기 보다는 신앙 공동체 안에서 분별하고 해결해야 합니다.  

왜냐하면 신앙 공동체가 갖고 있는 판단 기준은 죄에 대한 분명한 정죄, 그리고 은혜라는 정체성으로 시작된 공동체이기 때문입니다(1-6).  세상의 정체성과는 완전히 다른 정체성을 가진 공동체가 신앙 공동체입니다.

그리스도의 사랑과 은혜를 함께 받음으로 한 몸이 된 가족 공동체입니다(7-8).  가족은 법정으로 가서 법조문에 의해 손익, 잘잘못을 판단 받지 않고, ‘오히려 손해’를 택함으로 끝까지 관계를 끊지 않습니다.

신앙 공동체는 그리스도 십자가의 은혜 및 성령 하나님의 성장과 성숙으로 인도하심을 계속 받는 공동체입니다. 그렇기에 분쟁의 당사자들끼리는 끝까지 서로 포기하지 말고, 끝까지 서로 삼위일체 하나님으로 인도함 받아야 합니다.

교회는 세상과 달라야 합니다.

(1 Corinthians 6:1–11)

"But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God" (v. 11).

How should we respond when conflicts arise within the faith community? Rather than immediately taking disputes to secular courts, believers should seek to discern and resolve them within the community of faith.

This is because the faith community is founded on a clear understanding of sin and on an identity shaped by God's grace (vv. 1–6). It is a community whose identity is fundamentally different from that of the world.

Through the love and grace of Christ, we have become one body and one family (vv. 7–8). A family does not simply turn to legal statutes and court judgments to determine rights and wrongs or personal gain and loss. Instead, family members are willing to "rather be wronged" in order to preserve the relationship and not sever their bonds with one another.

The faith community is continually shaped by the grace of Christ's cross and by the leading of the Holy Spirit toward growth and maturity. Therefore, those involved in conflicts should not give up on one another. Rather, they should continue seeking the guidance of the Triune God together until reconciliation is achieved.

The church is called to be different from the world.
