The prayer requests below were sent by Missionary Kyungok Choi, who will be leaving this Saturday for a 46-day mission trip to Ethiopia.

As you read through each request, please take time to pray earnestly for every one of them.

This Saturday, I will be leaving for Ethiopia. I will stay there for about 46 days and return on September 2.

In Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, we will begin preparing for and launching the ministry of "Dream House" and "The Beginning of Little Heaven."

On this trip, I will be traveling with a sister who is a professor in the Korean Language Department at the Hebrew University. Every morning at 5:30 a.m., we meet together to read God's Word, pray, share, and prepare for the ministry.

Prayer Requests

Please pray that we will be united in the Holy Spirit with the two local co-worker families so that we may faithfully begin God's vision together.

Please pray that God will open the way for us to receive the trust and recognition of the local government as we provide after-school programs and one daily meal for children from single-parent families and impoverished homes. Pray that we will be able to minister to the children legally and under the protection of the law.

(Ethiopia has very strict child protection laws. In order to provide daily after-school classes, meals, and care for children, "Little Heaven" must either obtain the proper license or be officially registered as an NGO. Until then, we are not permitted to gather children for these ministries, so we have not yet been able to begin serving them.)

Please pray that we can establish a women's center where impoverished women can learn sewing skills, make reusable sanitary pads for schoolgirls, and distribute them through local schools. Pray that this ministry will provide at least some financial support for the women who make them. Also pray that God will help us develop sustainable projects that create long-term employment opportunities for the poor in the community.

In addition, please pray that we can successfully care for, teach, and feed the children whom the mothers bring with them, and that God will provide many willing hands to serve.

Please pray for wisdom as we prepare everything needed to launch the "Little Heaven" ministry. We need to purchase and install sewing machines, desks and chairs for the children, internet service, whiteboards, a large TV for teaching, beds for the bedrooms, and many other necessary items.

Please pray that God will raise up local ministry partners to join us as we prepare sandwiches each day and go into poor neighborhoods to share both the Gospel and food with those in need.

Please pray for our physical health and spiritual strength. It is currently the rainy season, and there are many mosquitoes. A mosquito bite can lead to malaria.

Please also pray as the Lord brings other needs to your heart.
