(이사야 10:5-19) 하나님 앞에서 겸손만~

(이사야 10:5-19)

“그러므로 주께서 주의 일을 시온산과 예루살렘에 다 행하신 후에 앗수르 왕의 완악한 마음의 열매와 높은 눈의 자랑을 벌하시리라”(12)

하나님께서 이스라엘과 유다를 향한 심판의 도구로 사용하신 앗수르에 대한 말씀입니다.  앗수르는 인간의 관점에서 보면 강력한 나라였습니다.  그러나 하나님의 도구일 따름입니다(5-6).  

그래서 아무리 스스로 강력한 나라라고 생각되어도 하나님 앞에서는 교만해서는 안됩니다(7).  그러나 앗수르는 너무나 교만한 자기 도취에 빠져 버렸습니다(8-11).

교만해서는 안됩니다.  하나님께서 심판하십니다(12-14).  하나님 앞에서 그 누구도, 그 어떤 나라도 스스로 자기를 높이거나 교만해서는 안됩니다.  모든 사람, 모든 나라보다 더 높으신 하나님께서 낮추시고, 멸하실 것입니다(15-19). 

‘하나님의 하나님 되심만’ 겸손히 인정하고, ‘하나님만’ 의지하며 살아갈 때 가장 바른 삶, 가장 귀한 삶 살게 됩니다.

"Therefore, when the Lord has finished all His work against Mount Zion and Jerusalem, He will punish the king of Assyria for the willful pride of his heart and the haughty look in his eyes." (v. 12)

This passage speaks about Assyria, the nation God used as an instrument of judgment against Israel and Judah. From a human perspective, Assyria was a mighty empire. Yet in reality, it was only a tool in God's hands (vv. 5–6).

Therefore, no matter how powerful a nation or a person may appear, no one should become proud before God (v. 7). However, Assyria became intoxicated with its own greatness and was consumed by arrogance (vv. 8–11).

We must never be proud. God judges pride (vv. 12–14). Before Him, no individual and no nation has the right to exalt itself. God, who is infinitely greater than every person and every nation, will humble the proud and bring them to ruin (vv. 15–19).

The most righteous and blessed way to live is to humbly acknowledge that God alone is God, to depend on Him, and to walk in faithful obedience to Him.
