(사사기 4:1-10) 하나님의 전신갑주

(사사기 4:1-10)

에훗이 사사로서 섬긴 기간은 80년이었습니다.  그가 죽자 이스라엘 자손은 또 하나님께 악을 행합니다.  이에 하나님께서는 가나안 왕 야빈과 그의 철 병거 구백 대를 통해 이스라엘을 20년 동안 다스리게 하십니다(1-3).

이스라엘의 간구의 기도를 들으시고 평소 재판의 업무로 사사의 직무를 담당하고 있던 여선지자 드보라를 통해 이스라엘을 구하십니다(4-5).  

드보라는 바락을 군대장관으로 삼고 하나님께서 이끌어 주심을 믿고 야빈의 군대 장관 시스라와 전투를 벌일 것을 명령합니다(6-7).

그러나 바락이 즉각 순종하기 못하고 주저하는 자세를 갖게 되자 드보라는 시스라의 죽음이 바락이 아닌 한 여인에 의해서 일어날 것을 말씀하십니다(8-10).

오늘 본문에서는 

평안의 기간에 나는 어떻게 지낼 것인가(1-3), 

평소 나의 소명에 나는 충실한가(4-5), 

나의 생각을 뛰어 넘는 하나님의 지혜와 전략(6-7),

전적 믿음에 의한 순종이냐, 계산적 주저함에 의한 지연 순종이냐(8-10)

등의 묵상 주제를 살펴 볼 수 있겠습니다.  물론 그 이상의 중요 묵상 주제들이 있을 수 있구요…

(Judges 4:1–10)

Ehud served as a judge for 80 years. After he died, the Israelites once again did evil in the sight of the Lord. So God allowed Jabin, king of Canaan, and his army with 900 iron chariots to oppress Israel for 20 years (1–3).

God heard Israel’s cry for help and delivered them through Deborah, a prophetess who was serving as a judge, normally carrying out her duties by settling disputes among the people (4–5).

Deborah appointed Barak as the commander of the army and, trusting in God’s guidance, commanded him to go into battle against Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army (6–7).

However, when Barak hesitated and failed to obey immediately, Deborah told him that Sisera’s death would come through the hand of a woman rather than through Barak (8–10).

Today’s passage gives us several themes for reflection:

How will I live during seasons of peace? (1–3)

Am I faithful to my calling in my ordinary, everyday life? (4–5)

Am I willing to trust God’s wisdom and strategy, even when they go beyond my own thinking? (6–7)

Will I obey through wholehearted faith, or will I delay obedience because of cautious calculation and hesitation? (8–10)

Of course, there may be other important themes for reflection as well.
