* 매 10여년 마다 한번씩 저희 교회는 '비전 정립'을 모든 성도님들과 함께 1년여 정도 기도하며, 나누고, 정립하고, 헌신했습니다.

이제 2024년도를 맞이하여 소망 카운슬에서 비전 재-정립의 해로 정하고, 함께 기도하며, 나아가기로 나누었습니다.

 

그래서 이러한 비전 재-정립을 위해서 말씀의 토대가 가장 중요하기에 이에 연관된 시리즈 설교를 지면을 통해서도 나눔이 필요하기에 함께 홈페이지에 싣고 함께 나눕니다.  꼭 읽어 보시고, 기도로 함께 나아갑시다!

 

Every decade, our church engages in a process of 'Vision Establishment,' where we spend about a year praying,

discussing, establishing, and contributing together with all the believers.

 

As we welcome the year 2024, the Hope Council has decided on a year of 'Vision Re-establishment,' and we have

committed to praying together and moving forward.

 

Recognizing the foundational importance of the Word in this Vision Re-establishment, we believe that sharing a sermon

series related to it through our publications is essential. Therefore, we are posting it on our website for everyone to read and discuss. Please take the time to read it, and let's advance together through prayer!

[본문] 왕하 1 Kings 18:1-6

Today’s Scripture is from 1 Cor. Chapter 11 Verse 17-34.

As we respect the Word of God, let us all stand up.

5. 네 평생에 너를 능히 대적할 자가 없으리니 내가 모세와 함께 있었던 것 같이 너와 함께 있을 것임이니라 내가 너를 떠나지 아니하며 버리지 아니하리니

6. 강하고 담대하라 너는 내가 그들의 조상에게 맹세하여 그들에게 주리라 한 땅을 이 백성에게 차지하게 하리라

7. 오직 강하고 극히 담대하여 나의 종 모세가 네게 명령한 그 율법을 다 지켜 행하고 우로나 좌로나 치우치지 말라 그리하면 어디로 가든지 형통하리니

8. 이 율법책을 네 입에서 떠나지 말게 하며 주야로 그것을 묵상하여 그 안에 기록된 대로 다 지켜 행하라 그리하면 네 길이 평탄하게 될 것이며 네가 형통하리라

 

5. No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

6. "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.

7. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.

8. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

 

 

 

 

[서론] Introduction

1.     [그림-어떤 안경] 어떤 안경을 보는 가는 상황에 대해서 매우 다르게 평가할 수 있습니다. Evaluating a situation greatly depends on the perspective through which we view.

2.     [그림] 교회 역사를 볼 때도 마찬가지입니다.  초대교회의 상황을 어떻게 평가할 수 있을까요? The same holds true for church history. How can we evaluate the situation of the early church?

3.     [그림] 가장 큰 핍박과 어려움을 겪은 상황으로 저희가 보고 있습니다. We usually regard it as a situation marked by the greatest persecution and hardship.

4.     [그림] 반면에 콘스탄틴 대제 이후 기독교가 가장 크게 부흥하게 된 상황을 어떻게 평가할 수 있을까요? On the other hand, how can we evaluate the period when Christianity experienced its greatest revival after Emperor Constantine legalized it?

5.     [도표] 외적으로 볼 때는 초대 교회 시대는 어렵고, 핍박의 상황으로 보여 집니다. The era of the early church appeared challenging and difficult through severe persecutions.

6.     [도표] 외적으로 볼 때는 기독교가 공인된 이후 큰 부흥이 일어난 것으로 보여 집니다. The legalization of Christianity seemed to spur the great revival.

7.     그러나 실제적으로, 영적으로 볼 때 이는 정반대입니다. Spiritually speaking, however, it is actually quite the opposite.

8.     [그림] 즉, 말씀이라는 안경을 가지고 볼 때 초대교회의 시대와 콘스탄틴 대제 이후의 시대는 완전히 다르게 평가될 수 있다는 말씀입니다. When viewed through the lens of the Word, the early church era and the post-Constantine era can be evaluated completely differently.

9.     [성경책] 말씀의 기준으로 볼 때, 초대 교회시대는 가장 신앙이 순수했고, 가장 내적으로 성숙된 시기였습니다. From the perspective of the Word, people had the purest faith and were most mature spiritually.

10. 그리고 콘스탄틴 대제 이후의 시대는 정반대입니다. The post-Constantine era was completely opposite.

11. 문제는 기독교가 공인된 이후 말씀의 기준이 무너지고 내적 성숙이 없는 외적 성장만 이룩한 시대가 실은 기독교가 무너진 출발이라는 점입니다. Ironically, it was when Christianity was officially recognized as the state religion of the empire that it began to crumble with seemingly external growth without internal maturity nor biblical foundation.

12. 초대교회로 부터 2천년이 지난 현재, 기독교는 어려움에 처해 있습니다. Now, over 2,000 years after the early church, Christianity faces challenges.

13. 그러나 이러한 시기에 어떤 안경을 쓰고, 어떤 기준을 잡고 나아가느냐에 따라서 기독교가 오히려 더 바르게 더 능력으로 나아갈 수 있는 기회가 될 수 있다고 믿습니다. But, in such times, depending on what lens and standards that we put on, I believe that Christianity has an opportunity to move forward in the right direction and with more power.

14. 즉, 문제의 상황, 위기의 상황이 기회의 상황이 될 수 있는 것입니다. It means that a crisis can become an opportunity.

15. 문제는 상황이 어떠냐가 중요한 것이 아니라, 어떤 시대이건, 어떤 상황이건 우리가 붙잡아야 할 기초와 기준점을 제대로 붙잡고 있느냐가 가장 중요합니다. What is important is not the nature of the situation but whether we are holding onto the right foundation and standard that we must hold, regardless of time or situation.

 

16. 이스라엘의 역사를 볼 때도 그러했습니다. It is true of the history of Israel. (제가 질문을 드립니다.  동일한 답입니다. 무엇일까요?)

17. 하나님께서 창조하실 때 무엇으로 창조하셨습니까? When God created, what did he create with?

18. 아담과 하와가 타락한 가장 시초는 이것을 제대로 붙잡지 못했기 때문이었습니까? What did Adam and Eve fail to hold onto at the very moment of their fall?

19. 노아가 홍수심판을 받기 전에 가장 붙잡았던 것은 무엇이었습니까? What did Noah continue to hold onto before the flood?

20. 아브라함이 붙잡고 갔던 것은 무엇이었습니까? What did Abraham hold onto for his whole life?

21. 아브라함 이후 계속되는 이스라엘의 역사 속에 하나님께서 일관되게 가지셨던 입장은 무엇이었습니까? What position did God consistently maintain throughout the history of Israel since Abraham?

22. 가장 위대한 지도자 모세가 죽었을 때, 그 다음 세대인 여호수아에게 하나님께서 주신 가장 중요한 지침, 즉 가이드 라인은 무엇이었습니까? When the great leader, Moses, died, what was the important guideline that God gave to Joshua, his next generation?

23. 네.  제가 이렇게 장황하게 나열했지만, 역사 속에서 일관되게, 상황이 어렵든, 좋든 관계없이 하나님께서 일관되게 단 한가지 제시하신 기준이 있습니다. There is one standard that God has consistently given throughout history.

24. 그것이 무엇입니까?  네. ‘언약’ 즉 약속된 말씀이라는 것입니다. What is it? Yes, it is the “covenant,” His promise to us.

25. 신약을 볼 때도 자세히 읽어 보시면 가장 일관되게 나오는 표현이 있습니다. When we read the New Testament, we find a phrase that consistently appears.  

26. 예수 그리스도가 약속대로 오셨듯이, 예수 그리스도가 약속대로 다시 오실 것이라는 말씀입니다. It is the statement that Jesus Christ will come again as promised, just as he came as promised,

27. 저는 신약 통독을 할 때 주님의 다시 오심이 너무나 많이 나오는 것을 보면서 정말로 놀라고 말았습니다. We find it amazing to see how often this promise appears throughout the New Testament.

28. 그러면 오늘 설교의 결론은 이미 난 것입니다. It is the conclusion of today’s sermon message.

29. 말씀을 온전히 붙잡을 때, 상황에 관계없이, 역사의 승리자, 인생의 승리자가 될 수 있다는 말입니다. When we fully hold onto the Word of God, we can become a victor in history and in life, regardless of the situation.

 

30. (저희 교회를 돌아 볼 때) 저희 교회가 2000년도 비전을 정립하고 2001년부터 새로운 천년의 시대를 열고 나아갔습니다. Our church established a vision in the year 2000, and we have come thus far after beginning the new millennium in 2001.

31. 그리고 또 2013년경에, 즉10여년 전에 비전을 함께 정립하고 나아갔습니다. In the year 2013, once again, we together updated our vision.

32. 이러한 10여년의 시간을 지내면서 카운슬에서 내년에는 교회 비전을 다시 한번 더 정립하고 나아가기를 결정하였습니다. The council has recently decided to establish our church vision once again.

33. 거의 매 10여년 마다 이렇게 비전을 정립하고, 온 성도님들과 함께 방향을 결정하는 것은 매우 의미있고, 올바르다고 믿습니다. We find it meaningful and appropriate to set a new vision and to decide the direction, almost every decade, together with the whole congregation.

34. 이를 위해서 함께 마음을 다하고, 꼭 간절히 기도해 주시기 부탁드립니다. To this end, we ask for your commitment and prayers. 

 

35. 저희가 이렇게 비전을 재정립하면서 나아갈 때 가장 붙잡아야 할 것이 무엇일까요? What shall be the thing that we should hold onto as we reestablish our vision?

36. 또 이제 2주일 후면 새해를 시작하게 됩니다. A new year will arrive in two weeks.

37. 새로운 해를 성공적으로 나아가기 위해서 우리가 붙잡아야 할 것은 무엇일까요? What will be the thing that we should tightly grasp to live a successful new year?

38. 그것은 말씀입니다. It is the Word of God.

39. 말씀을 붙잡고 나아갈 때 우리는 가장 바른 교회, 바른 길을 나아가게 되리라 믿습니다. When we hold onto the Word, I believe that we will be on the right path as a church.

40. [그림] 마치 아르키메데스가 자신에게 하나의 받침점만 주면 전 지구를 움직일 수 있다고 했습니다. Archimedes once said that with a single fulcrum, he could move the entire Earth.

41. 바로 인생에서, 역사에서, 우리 교회에서 그 받침점이 무엇일까요? What is the fulcrum in life, in history, and in our church?

42. 그것은 말씀에 대한 나의 자세입니다. It is our attitude to the Word.

 

43. 내년 비전 정립을 계획하면서, 그 첫 설교로 ‘말씀’의 중요성을 함께 나누기를 원했습니다.  As I plan for the establishment of a vision, I wanted to share the importance of “the Word” with you.

44. 저는 이 설교를 몇 주 동안 준비하고, 묵상하면서 다음의 몇가지를 성도님들과 함께 나누기를 원하게 되었습니다. As I have been preparing for the sermon for several weeks, I would like to share with you the following lessons.

45. 첫째, 삶의 문제에 대해서 성경만이 참된, 유일한 답을 갖고 있음을 기대하며, 말씀 앞으로 나아가야 한다는 사실입니다. First, we should go to the Word, expecting that only the Bible holds the true and sole answer to our life issues.

46. 오늘 본문을 볼 때, 여호수아는 난감한 상황이었습니다.  노련한 지도자 모세는 이미 죽은 상황입니다. In today’s passage, Joshua faced a challenging situation. The seasoned leader Moses had already died.

47. 초년 지도자로서 어떻게 해야 할까요? What should a new leader do in such a situation? 

48. 그런데 그 답은 말씀에 있다는 것입니다.  왜냐하면 하나님의 말씀 속에 모든 답이 담겨져 있기 때문입니다. The answer lies in the Scripture because all the answers are hidden within God’s Word.

49. 모세는 나이 들어서 이 땅에서 사라졌습니다.  그래도 창조 때 주신 말씀은 영원합니다. Moses got older and died, yet the Word remains eternal.

50. 출애굽을 왜 해야 하는지… 광야를 어떻게, 왜 건너가야 하는지… 가나안을 들어가야 하는 이유는 무엇인지… 어떻게 가나안 정복을 할 것인지… Why the exodus? How and why to cross the wilderness? Why to enter Canaan? How to conquer Canaan?

51. 가나안의 의미는 무엇인지… What is the meaning of Canaan?

52. 이러한 질문에 대한 참된 정답이 바로 성경 안에 다 들어가 있습니다. The answers to these questions are found within Scriptures.

53. 왜?  하나님 안에 이 모든 과정에 대한 큰 그림이 그려져 있기 때문입니다. Why? Because God has the big picture of all these events in him.

54. 우리 인생도 마찬가지입니다. Our lives are no different.   

55. 삶을 살아가면서 우리가 갖고 있는 삶에 대한 문제들…방향에 대한 답, 내면에 대한 답, 관계에 대한 답, 실제적인 삶의 존재에 대한 답 등… All the issues that we have about our lives, such as life direction, inner struggles, relational challenges, and existential questions.

56. 이 모든 질문들에 대한 정답이 바로 이 성경 안에 담겨져 있다는 말입니다. The answers to all these questions are encapsulated within the Bible.

57. [성경구절] 저는 이사야 16장 5절을 읽으면서 죄 문제에 대한 답을 얻었습니다. I found the answer to the problem of sin by reading Isaiah 16:5.

58. [성경구절] 로마서 1장 끝 부분을 보면서 실제적인 죄 문제 해결에 대한 답을 얻었습니다. I found the practical solution to the sin problem by reading the end of Romans 1.

59. [성경구절] 욥기서 31장 24절을 읽으면서 우리의 구체적인 관점에 대한 답을 얻었습니다. Job 31:24 provided me with the answer to our specific perspectives.

60. [성경구절] 잠언을 읽으면서 구제에 대한 올바른 지침을 읽었습니다. I learned the right guidance for almsgiving through the reading of the Proverbs.

61. [성경구절] 요한계시록을 읽으면서 시간에 대한 답을 얻었습니다. Revelation shed a light on the answer about time.

62. 이렇게 성경을 읽으면서 그 어떤 철학자도, 정치가도, 경제가도 줄 수 없는 답을 얻게 되었을 때, 저는 하나님이 성경을 쓰신 분임을 확신하게 됩니다. By reading the Bible and getting answers that no philosophers, politicians, or economists could provide, I am convinced that God is the author of the Bible.

63. 그리고 그 정답을 주시는 하나님을 저는 살아계신 유일한 전능하신 절대적 신이심을 확신하게 됩니다. Also, I am convinced that the God who gives the right answer is the living, all-powerful, absolute God.

64. 다시 말하면 (삼단논법) 저는 성경을 통해 하나님의 살아계심을 확신하고, 믿게 됩니다. In other words, through the Bible, I am convinced that God is living and I believe in him.

65. (나의 인생 간증)

 

66. 그러면 이 성경을 어떻게 읽어야 할까요? Then, how should we read the Bible?

67. 전인적으로 읽어야 합니다.  We should read it holistically.

68. 즉, 마음과 뜻과 힘을 다하여 읽듯이, 자세히 아나크리노 해야 합니다(행 17장. 베뢰아 교인들). We should “anakrino,” that is, we should read it with our whole heart, mind, and strength, investigating and examining the Word of God as the Bereans did in Acts.

69. 야긴과 보아스라고 했습니다(의미). The two pillars of the Solomon Temple are called Jachin, “God establishes”, and Boaz, “by his strength”.

70. 기도하며 읽어야 합니다. We should read it with prayer.

71. 새아침 기도회만큼 중요한 것이 없습니다.  왜냐하면, 매일, 첫 시간을, 기도와 함께 읽기 때문입니다. There is nothing more important than morning prayers because we read the Word of God together with prayer during the first hour of every day.

 

72. 그리고 성경은 전체적으로 읽어야 합니다. And we should read the Bible comprehensively.

73. 책 한권 읽은 사람이 제일 무서운 사람이고, 서울 한번 다녀온 사람이 제일 서울을 잘 안다고 주장하는 가장 무서운 사람이 된다고 합니다. It is said that the one who has read only one book is the most dangerous person, and the one who claims to know all about Seoul after only visiting it once is a dangerous person.

74. 성경을 부분적으로 읽는 사람이 엘리바스, 빌닷, 소발처럼 욥을 판단하고, 잘못된 길로 욥을 이끕니다. Those who read the Bible selectively often judge others, just as Job’s friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zopar, judged Job and led him astray.

75. 그래서 내년에는 말씀 전체를 좀 더 자세히, 깊게, 온 힘을 다하여 읽기를 원합니다. Next year, it is my prayer that we read the entire Bible more deeply and thoroughly with full dedication.

76. [그림] 매일 성경은 6년에 한번 성경 전체를 읽게 됩니다.  (자녀교육에 최고, 어린이 매일 성경) “Daily Bible” devotionals will lead us to complete reading the whole Bible every six years.

77. 성경 정통반(정독 통독반)은 1년에 1회 성경을 읽게 됩니다(시편은 매일). “Bible Reading Class” will help us to read the whole Bible once a year.

78. 매 주 화요일 오전에 행하는 여성 성경 공부반은 말씀을 함께 토론하고, 함께 고민하고, 함께 삶에 적용하는 공동체적 성경 공부 반입니다. “Tuesday Women’s Bible Study” will cause us to reflect on our life issues and share with others based on the Word of God.

79. 매 주 목요일 오전과 오후에 행하는 잠언반은 삶과 연결하는 훈련과 나눔을 함께 행하는 반입니다. The weekly “Thursday Proverbs Class” will train us to think of the world around us and share with others based on the Book of Proverbs.

80. 이러한 여러 반들은(수요 반 등) 바로 성경을 전인적으로, 전체적으로 읽을 수 있도록 성도님들을 안내해 드리고, 도와 드릴 것입니다. These various classes will guide and assist us in reading the Bible comprehensively and holistically.

81. 제가 이러한 여러 성경 공부 신청을 안내해 드릴 때, 꼭 참조하시되, 꼭 하나 이상의 성경 공부를 택하시기 바랍니다. As I introduce these Bible study classes, please make sure to attend at least one of them.

82. 왜?  [여호수아 1:8] 여러분의 길이 평탄하게 되고, 형통하게 되어야 하기 때문입니다. Why? Because your way must be prosperous and successful. (Joshua 1:8)

 

 

83. 이제 제가 이번 튀르키예 선교지 방문하면서 들은 내용을 함께 나눔으로 말씀을 마무리 하겠습니다. Now, I will conclude my message by sharing what I heard during my visit to Turkey.

84. 반 지역의 와힛 목사님에 관한 얘기입니다.  그 분께서는 첫 5년 동안 성경만 배부했다고 하셨습니다.  왜냐하면 그 곳에는 전혀 복음의 불모지 이기 때문입니다. It’s a story about Pastor Wahit in the city of Van. He said that he only distributed the Bibles for the first five years of his ministry. Because Van was a barren land for the Gospel.

85. 그런데 5년 지나서 복음을 전하게 되었을 때 사람들은 참된 진리에 대해서 묻고, 찾게 되더라는 것입니다. After five years, when he began to share the Gospel, people started asking and searching for the truth.

86. 즉, 코란과 성경을 다 읽은 사람들이 참된 진리를 코란이 아닌 성경에서 찾을 수밖에 없음을 깨닫고 이제 복음의 열매가 서서히 맺히고 있음을 말씀해 주셨습니다. Those who had read both the Quran and the Bible realized that the truth could only be found in the Bible, not the Quran. The fruit of the Gospel has been gradually bearing, he said.

87. 그래서 그 분은 저에게 진지하게 다음과 같이 자신의 선교 전략을 말씀해 주셨습니다. Pastor Wahit shared with me his missionary strategy.

88. 무슬림들에게 코란을 읽어 보라고 강력하게 말씀한다고 하십니다.  왜냐하면 거기에 답이 없다는 것을 알게 될 것이기 때문에(평생 의지했던 코란에서 답이 없음). He told me that he strongly encourages Muslims to read the Quran because they will realize there is no answer there.

89. 그리고 강하고 담대하게 성경을 읽어 보라고 말씀한다고 합니다.  왜냐하면 거기에 답이 있음을 알게 될 것이기 때문에. And he boldly urges them to read the Bible because they will discover that the answer is there.

90. 자신은 무슬림의 집안에 태어나서 아버지도 무슬림 코란 지도자이고, 형도 그렇다고 합니다. I found out that he was born into a Muslim family, and his father and his brother are Quran teachers. 

91. 그런 분이 말씀을 읽었을 때 답을 얻고, 자신의 평생을 바꾸는 일을 하셨습니다. When he read the Word of God, he found answers, and his life was completely changed.

92. 왜, 자유케 하는 진리를 깨달았기 때문에. For he realized the truth that liberates and gives freedom.

93. 새해를 시작하기 전에, 교회 비전을 다시 한번 더 정립하기 전에, 우리가 무엇을 해야 하겠습니까? What should we do before we start the new year and before we establish our church vision once again?

94. 말씀 앞으로 나아가는 것입니다. We should come to the Word.  (목사로서 저의 간절한 소원입니다.  최선을 다 하겠습니다)

95. 말씀은 짐이 아니라 힘입니다.  말씀은 무거운 것이 아니라 날개입니다.  The Word of God is not burden but strength.  The Word of God is not heavy but wing to fly.

96. [기도] 저희에게 자유케 하는 진리의 말씀 주심을 감사합니다.  이 말씀, 매일, 평생토록 붙잡고, 읽고, 묵상하고, 기도하고, 순종하며 살게 하옵소서!  이 땅에서 가장 바른 삶, 참된 하나님 나라 백성의 삶을 생명으로 살아가는 길 인줄 믿습니다.  매일, 매 순간, 말씀 앞세우고 평생 살아가게 하옵소서! Dear God, thank you for giving your Word that sets us free. May we grasp, read, meditate on, pray with, and live in obedience to your Word everyday, throughout our lives. We believe that your Word will lead us to live as the true people of the Kingdom of God. May we always live in obedience to your Word every day and every moment for the rest of our lives.”
