[말씀묵상 366 / 사도행전 19] 행 9:1-9a (051924) "방향이 바로 되어야, 속도를 내는 것도 의미 있습니다...!"

당연한 얘기입니다.  '방향(효과성, effectiveness)이 바로 되어야, 속도(효율성, efficiency)가 의미있게 됩니다!".  유명한 경영학자 피터 드러커는 이 효과성과 효율성을 이러한 관점에서 늘 먼저 점검해 보아야 한다고 했습니다.

바울의 인생에서 속도는 정말 열정적인 것이었습니다.  예수 믿는 사람들을 잡아 죽일만큼 그는 유대교적 신앙관에 헌신했습니다.  그러나 유대교적 신앙관은 참된 구원의 길이 아니었고, 또 다른 적을 낳는 민족 이기주의, 종교 이기주의적 관점이 컸습니다.

이런 바울이 방향에 대해서 돌아보게 됩니다.  다메섹 가는 길에서 예수 그리스도가 하나님이심을 깨닫게 됩니다.  하늘에서 소리가 들렸다는 것은 바울에게는 '하나님의 소리'인데, 그 하나님께서 바로 자신을 '너가 핍박하는 예수'(5)라고 하셨던 것입니다.

예수 믿는 자들을 죽이려고 했던 자신의 방향에 대한 정반대의 관점을 깨닫게 되었습니다.  결국 그는 3일 동안 먹지도, 마시지도 않으면서 돌아보게 됩니다.  자신의 평생 방향에 대해서 심각하게 돌아보게 된 것입니다(6-9).

그리고 그는 인생의 방향을 정반대로 돌립니다.  고속도로에서 평생 역주행 하고 살아왔던 자신의 삶을 이제 제대로 된 방향으로 달려가게 된 것입니다.  동역자 아나니아도 만나게 되고, 성령의 인도하심 받으며 더 강력하게 남은 인생 소명 다하며 살아가게 됩니다(10-19a).  

나는 지금 정방향으로 인생 살아가고 있습니까?

혹시 역주행하고 살아가고 있지 않습니까?

It's a fundamental truth: "Only when the direction (effectiveness) is right does speed (efficiency) have meaning." The renowned management expert Peter Drucker emphasized that we must always first assess effectiveness and efficiency from this perspective.

In Paul's life, speed was synonymous with zeal. He was fervently committed to his Judaic faith, to the point of persecuting and killing Christians. However, his Judaic faith did not lead to true salvation and was steeped in nationalistic and religious exclusivism.

Paul's understanding of direction was radically challenged on the road to Damascus. He realized that Jesus Christ is God. The voice he heard from heaven was, for Paul, the "voice of God," and this God identified Himself as "Jesus, whom you are persecuting" (5).

This revelation forced Paul to confront the complete reversal of his life's direction. For three days, he neither ate nor drank, reflecting deeply on his life's trajectory (6-9).

Ultimately, Paul reversed his life's direction. He had been traveling the wrong way on the highway all his life, and now he turned around to go in the right direction. He met fellow worker Ananias, received the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and lived out the rest of his life with a powerful sense of mission (10-19a).

Am I living my life in the right direction now?

Am I perhaps going the wrong way?
