성령님의 사역 관련하여 교단마다 강조점이 다르고, 그 다른 점이 어떤 경우는 치우치거나 극단적이 되는 경우가 많습니다. 그러다 보니 성령님의 사역을 오해 할 때가 많습니다. 그리고 그로 인해 신앙 생활도 균형을 잃고, 극단으로 치우치는 경우가 많습니다.

어떤 신학자들은 성령님을 '수줍은 성령님(The Shy Member of the Trinity)'이라고 표현하기도 합니다. 성경 전체에 성령님의 사역은 분명히 계시지만, 앞에 드러나지 않고, 삼위일체 하나님의 차원으로, 성부 하나님과 성자 예수 그리스도를 드러내고 영화롭게 하는 사역으로 나타나는 경우가 많습니다. 이는 성경 전체에 전반적으로 드러납니다.

그래서 삼위일체 하나님을 믿는 신앙인으로서 치우침과 극단적 모습을 갖지 않도록 늘 돌아 보아야 하며, 이를 위해 성경을 읽을 때 늘 성령님의 사역을 정확하게 파악해야 하며, 성경 전체적으로 이런 깨어 있음의 자세로 성경을 읽어야 할 것입니다.

그럴 때 우리는 성령님의 인도하심 가운데 균형 잡힌 신앙과 건강한 공동체적 신앙을 세워 갈 수 있으리라 믿습니다.

Different denominations often place different emphases on the ministry of the Holy Spirit. At times, these differences can become imbalanced or even extreme, leading to misunderstandings about the work of the Holy Spirit. As a result, our Christian lives can also lose balance and drift toward unhealthy extremes.

Some theologians have referred to the Holy Spirit as “The Shy Member of the Trinity.” Although the ministry of the Holy Spirit is clearly revealed throughout Scripture, He often works not by drawing attention to Himself, but by glorifying and revealing God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son within the context of the Triune God. This pattern can be seen throughout the Bible.

Therefore, as believers who confess faith in the Triune God, we must continually examine ourselves so that we do not fall into imbalance or extremism. To do this, we need to understand the ministry of the Holy Spirit accurately whenever we read Scripture and approach the whole Bible with this spirit of watchfulness and discernment.

As we do so, I believe that, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will be able to cultivate a balanced faith and build a healthy, Christ-centered community of believers.
