(대상 12:1-40)

‘그 때에 사람이 날마다 다윗에게로 돌아와서 돕고자 하매 큰 군대를 이루어 하나님의 군대와 같았더라’(22)

사울의 군대는 사람의 군대였습니다.  자기 명예, 자기 이익 추구의 관점이기에 눈 앞에 이익이 보이면 강력해 지지만, 역사의 주관자 되시는 하나님 앞에서는 올바른 자세, 참된 명분이 없었습니다.

결국 그렇게 역사 속에서 스러져 가는 존재가 됩니다.  일반 역사 속에서 수많은 제국들이, 황제들이 자신의 나라, 자신의 국가를 이룩하다 사라져 갔습니다.  진시황은 자신이 건립한 제국이 자신의 아들 대 이상을 넘기지 못하고 2대만에 사라져 갔습니다. 

만리장성이라는 초유의 권력표현이 있었지만, 2대를 넘지 못하는 한계였습니다.  오래 갔다는 로마제국도 결국 역사 속에서 사라졌습니다. 

오로지 하나님의 나라만 영원합니다.  다윗의 군대는 인간의 군대, 사람의 군대가 아니라 ‘하나님의 군대와 같았다’라고 표현합니다.  왜냐하면 다윗은 하나님의 뜻, 하나님의 나라를 추구하는 것으로 자신의 왕위를 시작했기 때문입니다. 

성령으로 인도함 받는 모임들이었습니다(18).  백성들의 마음을 돌보고, 그들과 한 마음으로, 특히 어려운 자들과 함께 하는 아둘람 공동체의 정신으로 나아갔기에 온 백성들이 지위고하에 관계없이 하나가 될 수 있었습니다.

우리 교회가 하나님의 군대와 같은 공동체가 되기를 기도 드립니다.  하나님 뜻 앞으로 함께 모일 때, 서로 가장 낮은 영역부터 주님의 마음으로 섬길 때 ‘하나님의 군대’가 될 줄 믿습니다.

(1 Chronicles 12:1–40)

"Day after day men came to help David, until he had a great army, like the army of God." (v.22)

Saul’s army was a human army. It was based on the pursuit of personal honor and self-interest. When visible gain was present, it seemed powerful—but before God, the Lord of history, it lacked proper posture and true cause.

In the end, such an army becomes a fading entity in the course of history. Many empires and emperors in general history have built up their own nations only to eventually vanish. Qin Shi Huang's empire, despite its massive power, could not last beyond his son—it disappeared in just two generations.

Even with the unprecedented symbol of power, the Great Wall of China, it couldn’t overcome the limitation of lasting only two generations. Even the Roman Empire, known for its longevity, ultimately vanished in history.

Only God’s kingdom is eternal. David’s army is described not as a human army, but as "like the army of God." This is because David began his reign by seeking God's will and God's kingdom.

It was a gathering led by the Holy Spirit (v.18). By caring for the people’s hearts and moving in unity—especially through the spirit of the Adullam community, which walked with those in hardship—the entire nation, regardless of status, was able to become one.

I pray that our church becomes a community like the army of God. When we gather together around God's will, and when we serve one another with the heart of Christ, starting from the lowest place, I believe we will become the “army of God.”
