(사사기 1:22-36) 온전한 순종

(사사기 1:22-36)
오늘 본문에는 가나안을 점령하는 몇가지 중요한 원리와 자세를 가르쳐 줍니다.
1) 임재와 인도-명령과 약속은 믿음의 순종과 실천을 통해 현실화 됩니다. 순종할 때 약속하신 하나님은 함께 하십니다(22). 이것이 신앙인이 이 땅에서 하나님 나라 건설하는 원리입니다.
2) 신중-요셉 가문(에브라임과 므낫세 지파)은 벧엘을 칠 때 여리고 성에 정탐군을 보냈듯이 신중하게 정탐군을 보내고, 그로 인해 지혜롭게 벧엘(루스)을 점령합니다(22-24). 이 때 도움을 줌으로 가족들과 함께 살게 된 벧엘 사람은 헷 사람들의 땅에 가서 자신의 새로운 거주지를 개척하고 그 성 이름을 루스(벧엘)라 합니다(26). 이 사람은 여리고 성의 라합과 같이 참된 구원의 길, 능력의 길을 이방인으로서 깨달았던 사람이었습니다.
3) 철저한 순종-므낫세 족속은 주어진 땅을 정복하지만, 주민들을 완전히 쫓아내지 못합니다. 철병거 등으로 인해 완전 정복이 어려울 수 있지만, 그로 인해 가나안 족속이 계속 그 땅에 살게 됩니다(27). 그러자 같이 살게 되는 결과를 맞게 됩니다(28). 그러자 아셀 족속의 경우 오히려 가나안 족속에게 지배 당하는 모습을 보여 주며(32), 단 자손의 경우는 아모리 족속에 의해 산지까지 쫓겨나는 상황이 됩니다(34).
오늘도 하나님 나라 건설은 삶의 모든 영역에서, 모든 상황에서 계속 되어야 합니다. 신중한 자세와 함께 타협하거나 변질되지 않는 철저한 순종으로 나아갑시다. 그리고 기억합시다.
하나님께서 함께 하십니다!
(Judges 1:22–36)
Today’s passage teaches us several important principles and attitudes for taking possession of Canaan.
1) God’s Presence and Guidance
God’s commands and promises become reality through our obedience and faithful action. When we obey, the God who has promised to be with us is indeed with us (v. 22). This is the fundamental principle by which believers build the Kingdom of God on this earth.
2) Wisdom and Prudence
When the house of Joseph—the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh—went up against Bethel, they acted carefully. Just as spies had been sent to Jericho, they sent spies to Bethel and, through this wise approach, were able to capture Bethel, formerly known as Luz (vv. 22–24).
The man from Bethel who helped them was allowed to live with his family. He went to the land of the Hittites, established a new place to live, and named the city Luz, the same name as Bethel (v. 26).
Like Rahab of Jericho, this man was a Gentile who recognized the true way of salvation and the way of God’s power.
3) Thorough and Complete Obedience
The tribe of Manasseh took possession of the land that had been given to them, but they did not completely drive out its inhabitants. Although complete conquest may have seemed difficult because of obstacles such as iron chariots, the result was that the Canaanites continued to live in the land (v. 27).
Eventually, this led to the Israelites living together with the Canaanites (v. 28). In the case of the tribe of Asher, they even came under the control of the Canaanites (v. 32). The tribe of Dan, meanwhile, was driven back into the hill country by the Amorites (v. 34).
Even today, the work of building the Kingdom of God must continue in every area of our lives and in every circumstance.
Let us move forward with wisdom and prudence, but at the same time with thorough and uncompromising obedience—without compromise or allowing our faith to become distorted.

오늘 키워드는 ‘하나님의 임재와 인도하심을 믿으며, 신중하게, 그리고 타협이나 변질되지 않고 철저하게 온전히 순종하기’였습니다(조금 긴 키워드 ㅎㅎㅎ).
온전한 순종, 혹은 철저한 순종의 중요성을 오늘 본문을 보면서 다시 한번 더 깨닫습니다. 가나안은 구별된 땅, 거룩한 땅으로 회복되어야 열방을 향한 복음의 전초 기지가 되기 때문입니다.
그런데 믿음의 순종이 없이는 철병거를 가진 가나안 주민들을 보면서 지레 겁먹게 될 것입니다. 그래서 다 쫓아 내지 못하고, 같이 살아가 결국 가나안 이교 문화에 영향을 받게 됩니다.
제 삶에서 하나님 나라 문화가 아닌 부분을 안팎으로 돌아 보았습니다. 아무 생각없이 하루를 지내다 보면 쉽게 세속 죄악 문화에 속아 넘어가기 쉽습니다. SNS의 발달로 너무나 쉽게 세속 문화에 영향을 어른들도 받게 되는데, 어린 자녀들이야 더 말할 나위가 없습니다. 물론 SNS 자체가 나쁜 것은 아닙니다. 그러나 깨어 있어야 하고, 바르게 발전 시켜야 합니다.
이를 위해서 나는 어떻게 사용하고 있고, 어떻게 영향 받고 있나를 깨어 돌아 보며 오늘 지냈고, 앞으로도 문화 경찰로서의 입장을 늘 깨어서, 기도하면서 살아가기를 결단하였습니다.
이렇게 매일 지내다 보면 더 맑은 영혼, 더 순수한 삶과 문화로 살아갈 수 있기를 소망하고, 또 가능하리라 믿습니다. 물론 100퍼센트는 아니지만 그렇게 성장과 성숙의 삶을 실제 삶 속에서 살아가려고 하는 것이 진정한 하나님 나라 백성의 이 땅에서의 삶이라 믿습니다.
오늘 다른 지역에 사는 지인과 정치적 영역에서도 그리스도인들이 둔감해서도 안되고, 자칫 지역주의나 감정주의, 선입견 및 편견에 빠진 관점으로 대해서도 안되며, 정당 대신에 정책을, 정치인 대신에 정치적 현안에 대한 분석과 비판 및 올바른 지지의 관점을 늘 깨어서 행해야 함을 나눴습니다.
이는 문화영역에도 마찬가지이고, 세계의 모든 일어나는 상황에 대해서도 마찬가지 입니다. 한 손에 성경을, 한 손에 신문을 들고, 성경의 원리와 관점으로 기도하며, 순종하는 실천적 자세는 반드시 필요합니다.
네팔의 진흙 홍수의 상황은 하나의 지구에서 함께 살고 있는 우리 모두의 책임이며, 저의 책임입니다. 그렇게 온전한 순종, 철저한 순종의 삶을 깨어서 살기를 간절히 소원합니다.
24/7의 삶은 하나님 나라 건설의 소명을 받은 크리스천이 꼭 가져야 할 깨어 있는 자세라 믿습니다. 항상 깨어 있기를 간절히 소망합니다!
(Reflection)
Today’s key theme was: “Trusting in God’s presence and guidance, acting with discernment, and obeying Him fully and wholeheartedly without compromise or distortion.”
(A bit of a long key theme, haha!)
As I reflected on today’s passage, I was reminded once again of the importance of wholehearted and thorough obedience. Canaan needed to be restored as a set-apart and holy land so that it could become a launching base for the gospel to the nations.
But without obedience rooted in faith, we can easily become intimidated when we see the Canaanite people with their iron chariots. As a result, we may fail to drive them out completely, choose to live alongside them, and eventually become influenced by the pagan culture of Canaan.
I took time today to look honestly at the areas of my life—both inwardly and outwardly—that are not aligned with the culture of God’s kingdom. When we go through our days without being intentional and watchful, it is easy to be deceived and influenced by the sinful and secular culture around us. With the rapid development of social media, even adults can be influenced by secular culture so easily, and this is even more true for young children. Of course, social media itself is not inherently bad. But we need to remain alert and learn to use and develop it in the right way.
So today I intentionally reflected on how I am using social media and other cultural influences, and how they are influencing me. I also made a commitment to remain continually awake and prayerful, taking on the role of a kind of “culture watchman,” discerning what is taking place around me and guarding my life accordingly.
As I live this way day by day, I hope—and I believe—that I can increasingly live with a clearer soul, a purer life, and a healthier culture. Of course, I will never be 100% perfect, but I believe that genuinely seeking to live a life of growth and maturity in the realities of everyday life is what it means to live as a true citizen of God’s kingdom in this world.
Today, I also had a conversation with an acquaintance who lives in another region about the political sphere. We shared that Christians should not be indifferent or insensitive to political matters, nor should we approach them through the lenses of regionalism, emotionalism, preconceived notions, or prejudice. Instead of simply supporting a political party, we should focus on policies; instead of simply supporting or opposing politicians, we should thoughtfully analyze and evaluate political issues and maintain a discerning perspective on what should be supported and why.
The same principle applies to the cultural sphere, and also to everything happening throughout the world. We need to hold the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other, praying, discerning, and responding to the world through the principles and perspective of Scripture. We need to have a practical posture of obedience and action.
The situation surrounding the mud floods in Nepal is not merely someone else’s problem. It is the responsibility of all of us who share this one earth—and it is also my responsibility. With this in mind, I earnestly desire to live a life of wholehearted and thorough obedience, remaining spiritually awake and alert.
I believe that living 24/7 is an essential posture of watchfulness for every Christian who has received the calling to build God’s kingdom.
