새 노래

“내가 산들과 언덕들을 황폐하게 하며 그 모든 초목들을 마르게 하며 강들이 섬이 되게 하며 못들을 마르게 할 것이며 내가 맹인들을 그들이 알지 못하는 길로 이끌며 그들이 알지 못하는 지름길로 인도하며 암흑이 그 앞에서 광명이 되게 하며 굽은 데를 곧게 할 것이라 내가 이 일을 행하여 그들을 버리지 아니하리니…”(이사야 42:15-16)

여러분은 포로 상태에서 이러한 시를 쓰고 노래를 부르는 것을 상상할 수 있겠습니까?  여러분은 자신들을 포로로 삼는 바벨론 제국의 콧등 바로 밑에서 이런 노래를 부를 수 있겠습니까? 

이 노래는 현실을 뒤집는 개혁의 의미를 담고 있습니다.  새 노래를 부르면서 우리는 앞으로 도래할 하나님의 선한 시간 안에서 세상이 어떻게 존재할 지 상상하게 됩니다.  

그래서 새 노래는 세상이 지금 존재하는 방식에 대한 저항입니다.  그리고 믿음안에서, 하나님 안에서 이러한 새로운 세상이 존재할 것을 믿는 소망입니다.  그래서 새 노래는 저항이고, 담대한 선포입니다.  

이 새 노래가 실제로 예수님의 부활의 아침에 울려 퍼졌습니다.  단순한 희망사항이 아니라, 실제로 부활이 일어났기에 실제로 역사 속에서, 영광과 찬송과 고백으로 올려 드렸던 실현된 감격, 감사의 찬양이 실제로 있었습니다.  

이제, 새 하늘과 새 땅의 수행자로 오실 예수 그리스도께서 다시 오실 때 우리는 분명히 이 새 노래를 다시 온전히 부르게 될 것입니다.  

한가지 기억 할 것은 , 그 ‘새 노래’를 이 땅에서 매 주일 신앙의 공동체가 함께 모여 올려 드리고 있습니다.  마치 영화의 예고편처럼… 그렇게 미래의 새 하늘과 새 땅의 기쁨을 새 노래로 매 주일 올려 드리고 있습니다.

예고편이 있다는 것은 실제 영화가 있음을 의미하듯이, 매 주일 ‘새 노래’로 올려드리는 매 주일의 영광의 예배는 새 하늘과 새 땅의 완전한 하나님 나라의 실체를 미리 보여 주는 것입니다.  

그래서 내일 주일의 영광의 예배는 너무나 중요합니다.

A New Song

"I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and dry up all their vegetation; I will turn the rivers into islands, and dry up the pools. And I will lead the blind by a way they do not know, in paths they do not know I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them." (Isaiah 42:15-16)

Can you imagine writing and singing such a poem while in captivity? Could you sing this song right under the noses of the Babylonian empire that has taken you captive?

This song carries the meaning of a reform that overturns reality. Singing a new song, we begin to imagine how the world will exist within the good times of God that are to come.

Therefore, the new song is a resistance to the way the world currently exists. It is the hope in faith, in God, that such a new world will exist. Thus, the new song is both resistance and a bold proclamation.

This new song actually resounded on the morning of Jesus' resurrection. It was not just a wishful thinking, but an actual event of resurrection that took place in history, lifted up in glory, praise, and confession as an actual realization of thrilled and thankful praise.

Now, when Jesus Christ, the executor of the new heavens and the new earth, comes again, we will surely sing this new song in its entirety again.

One thing to remember is that this "new song" is being lifted up every Sunday by the faith community gathered on this earth. Like a preview of a movie... so we offer the joy of the new heavens and new earth through the new song every Sunday.

Just as a trailer indicates the existence of the actual movie, the glorious worship every Sunday with the "new song" previews the full reality of God's kingdom in the new heavens and the new earth.

Therefore, the glorious worship of tomorrow, Sunday, is extremely important.
